There's a new way to shop with your Android phone with Google Shopper. Ron Richards reviews the direct competition to ShopSavvy which lets you scan barcodes to get prices of products.
As Google's developers start banging out applications for the Android OS, I'm fascinated to see what type of apps they decide to focus on. Google Shopper takes several of Googles services and applications, such as visual search (as we've seen with Google Goggles), product search and combine them all with an app focused on shopping. Similar to ShopSavvy, Google Shopper allows you to scan a barcode on a product, or just take a photo of a product and search on-line for it and find the lowest prices around the web. So with all those Google brains behind this app, is Shopper worth it?

Version 1.0(26) | Developed by Google | Free
PROS:
- Easy to use
- Accurate image and barcode scanning
- Clean search results
- Information, prices, etc. are clearly organized
CONS:
- Lacks location based results
- Retailers are online only
Download this app:

The Google Shopper app is as solid as you'd expect for an app from Google, but it falls a little short without using location based results. With just product prices for on-line retailers, the on-the-go aspect of product searching with your phone falls a little short.
