If you're looking for something better than Blackberry's pre-packaged browser, check out Mauricio's review of Bolt and Opera Mini!
One of the nice things about Blackberry devices when it comes down to the handheld wars, is that, believe it or not, you actually have web browser options.
The Blackberry comes equipped with it's own browser, but If you're looking for a better browsing experience try Bolt Browser and Opera Mini.
Review by: Mauricio Balvanera
Version 1.5 | Developed by Bitstream | Free
PROS:
- Video playback
CONS:
- Sluggish compared to other browsers
Bolt is built on Bitstream's ThunderHawk browsing technology. It'll render webpages like a desktop computer at decent speeds, so you're not left with a stripped down, modified versions of web pages. It might take a minute to get accustomed to the slightly zoomed out fully rendered page on your blackberry, but you'll soon realize the benefits when visiting sites like Digg or Revision3.
Version 5.0 | Developed by Opera Software | Free
PROS:
- Lightning fast browsing
CONS:
- Not good at handling video
Opera takes an interesting approach to browsing. It'll actually run your url requests through there own servers and compress the page before sending it to your phone. The idea is that these optimized pages will get to you to your destination quicker, despite the rerouting. And you know what. It works. Opera Mini is a little speed demon.
