With all the available alternatives to SMS, is paying for extra text messages still necessary? Not if you use Gogii textPlus.
Created by Gogii, Inc., Gogii textPlus is formatted for the iPhone and iPod touch, but your friends can receive your text messages regardless of their phone or carrier. To begin using Gogii, you simply download the app for free, set up a username and begin texting at absolutely no cost to you (although, unless they have the app, standard texting rates will apply for recipients).

Annie discusses the ads in Gogii textPlus and the censorship. Is this a dealbreaker?
Using Gogii, you can also add multiple friends to conversations. Additionally, you can text globally at no added cost - that's right, you can send international texts totally free to friends who have also downloaded the app.
It's great, but not without some drawbacks. For instance, Gogii textPlus blocks swear words, and the ads give the interface a slightly cluttered feel. Regardless, Gogii textPlus remains fundamentally awesome - and, if used shrewdly, could definitely reduce the need to pay extra for messaging.
