Successful entrepreneur and CEO Jay Adelson demystifies the start-up process by providing advice, tips, and answering questions. In this episode, Jay talks about certain company acquisitions that get referred to as "acqui-hires."
Jay's Chalkboard Notes:
- A company that acquires another specifically for the talent - They are popular lately in Silicon Valley due to engineering demand - Regardless of the type of acquisition, there is still the purchase of equity or of an agreed upon valuation - A board can block an acqui-hire if deemed strategically bad - Acquiring company must pay satisfactory amount of money + set aside retention money to retain talent
In any acquisition, all employees must go through an HR process.
