- A CEO being fired is usually a misalignment between the board or investors and the CEO's direction for the company
- Understand on day 1 what the direction of the board is going to be
- Understand how it may change from board meeting to board meeting
- A CEO is usually looked to as someone who inspires others
- Understand your own limitations
- Consider not being CEO of your 1st startup and learn from that CEO instead
- It's usually not a total surprise
- Keep your mouth shut
- Don't take it personally
- Remain professional
- CEO's are fired and hired all the time
- Everything is a learning experience
- Understand your emotions and confide privately with your close friends and family
- Understand that most do not know the full story
