iFanboy’s Talking Comic Book Movies

on July 18th, 2008 at 09:58 am by Ron Richards in Polemics

As the summer movie season heats up, iFanboy has been talking to many radio stations and newspapers about the recent surge in movies based on comic books. One of the more recent appearances is up on the web for you to listen to. Josh Flanagan appeared on Newsweek On Air on the July 13th episode and discussed the comic book movies phenomenon with David Ansen, a NEWSWEEK Film Critic. Head over to Newsweek to hear the interview/discussion! If you can’t find the episode, it should be in the archive.

To hear more interviews and appearances, check out the full list of appearances with links to the various shows.

Diggnation Soundboards = Fun

on July 10th, 2008 at 02:43 pm by Ron Richards in Polemics

The great thing about the Revision3 community is the enjoyment we all get out of our shows and sharing and experiencing some of the cool things that people have created based on our shows. The latest example comes from MrPowers and the creation of Diggnation Sound Boards. MrPowers has created two very cool sounds boards featuring Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht.

By taking audio from episodes of Diggnation and putting them into a nifty flash application, you can now have Kevin and Alex say whatever you choose. David Prager and myself have already spent way too much time playing with this and laughing at the results, so we thought everyone else would enjoy it too. Warning though, some of the content is not for minors or for the workplace, so be sure to have your headphones plugged in, or turn the sound down.

Wine Library TV Celebrates 500 Episodes - LIVE on July 10th in San Francisco!

on July 9th, 2008 at 05:18 pm by David Prager in Live Events

Gary Vaynerchuk has reached many milestones since creating Wine Library TV. We’d like to think that one of them is becoming a part of the Revision3 family. More important than that though is his latest milestone: the epic and awesome accomplishment of reaching episode 500!

We are extremely excited to be able to bring this episode to you streaming live at Revision3.com/watch. The show will begin at 7pm Pacific (10pm Eastern), and the stream may go live several minutes before.

If you happen to be in the Bay Area - we invite you to come see the show live in person at Crushpad. It is a free event for all ages, but we appreciate your RSVP here: http://applications.crushpadwine.com/event/62.3

Crushpad is located at 2573 Third Street, San Francisco, CA

We respectfully encourage attendees to feel free to bring a bottle or some finger foods to nibble on. At the bottom of this message, please see the note from our good friends at Crushpad who have been so generous in hosting the event.

If you can’t join us in person, we hope you’ll join us live online at 7pm Pacific tomorrow at revision3.com/watch to celebrate and tape episode 500 of Wine Library TV!

Cheers!

David Prager

From Stuart Ake from Crushpad:

The event will run from 6pm until 10pm (pacific) with Episode Number 500 set to stream live at 7pm (pacific). We’re truly excited to be a part of this opportunity to meet/reunite with Gary and fellow Vayniacs over good wine and light bites.

What to bring?
While several outstanding small production wineries will be on hand to pour, we respectfully ask that you please bring finger foods and/or a bottle to share. It’s a good idea to put tape with your name on any serving utensils/plates you plan to bring home. If coming from out-of-town, you can pick up a variety of delicious finger foods at the Ferry Plaza. The Ferry Plaza is located at the Embarcadero near a T-Line stop.

As you know, the BYOB/snack component is an absolute highlight. At the Vayniac Barrel Sampling last December, the wines and food were outstanding and thoughtfully chosen. If you are bringing a white wine or rosé, let us know upon your arrival so we can get the bottle chilled. We’ll also have several tables set up for you to place red wines. (In addition to some stinky cheeses, I’m planning to bring a Russian River Pinot and an Austrian Gruner I’ve been wanting to check out).

Help out?
As you know, we’re expecting a large turnout on Thursday. If you are interested in helping at the event for a hour, we’d love your assistance! Simply email me and I’d be happy to provide details. We’ll organize your time so you know what to expect and who to check in with when you arrive.

Smart & Safe
I highly recommend taking public transportation on Thursday. Muni’s T-Linestops a 1/2 block from Crushpad at the corner of 23rd Street and 3rd Street. If you are coming up from the South Bay, we’re just 3 blocks from the 22nd Street Station on CALtrans. Super easy! If you choose to drive, there are more parking spaces available behind the building on Illinois Street. If entering from the Illinois side, simply walk across the winery floor to sign in at the entrance.

Where to bring?
CRUSHPAD
2573 Third Street (between 22nd and 23rd Streets)
San Francisco, 415-864-4232

If you can’t make it, please let me know so we can plan accordingly.
Questions? Don’t hesitate to give me a call or email. I’ll see you on Thursday at 6pm (pacific)!

Thanks,
Stuart Ake

Revision3 Sponsor Delivers Fascinating Video

on July 9th, 2008 at 04:12 pm by Jim Louderback in Shows

Regular Revision3 viewers know that here are Revision3 we’re always expanding the envelope and trying new things. Because of our innovative approach to both content and advertising, we’ve been lucky enough to bring a wide range of interesting sponsors to our shows.

You probably all remember our innovative Super Bowl Diggnation promotion, which ran back in the beginning of this year. Well we’re at it again, this time delivering a new way to promote a new product from Microsoft – focused around Voice Over IP.

In this particular case, Microsoft has provided us with a funny, catchy and entertaining video that puts their VOIP product into an interesting, and revolutionary context. I don’t want to give too much of the story away, suffice to say that this new VOIP product delivers some tantalizing benefits.

- Jim Louderback

As you all well know, Revision3 is completely ad supported. Our sponsors provide the income that allows us to continue to deliver great programs to you every week. Please support our sponsors, so we can keep creating videos for you. I encourage you to stop by and watch Microsoft’s video – you’ll enjoy it, and might learn something too!

on June 30th, 2008 at 06:32 am by Ron Richards in Announcements

As summer kicks into gear, we’re proud to introduce you to Intern Row, a new blog that will be written, managed, and produced by the interns here at Revision3. Each one of our wonderful interns will contribute to the blog and it will be updated frequently.

Revision3 is a firm believer in providing opportunity and experience to those who participate in the internship program. We take interns from all across the nation and give each and everyone of them the ability to work on all of our shows from any and every direction; various responsibilities include shooting, editing, promoting, marketing and business development. Intern Row provides yet another opportunity for our interns to talk about their experiences while at Revision3, along with any related interests they may have.

Think of this blog as another way for you to get behind the scenes of Revision3. Not only will the interns discuss their experiences in and out of the office, but they will also blog and vlog about current events along with other various interests of theirs.

The interns are more than welcome to suggestions for content, so if you want to see something specifically be sure to leave a comment here, on Intern Row, or in the forums.

Wine Library Brings Thunder to Revision3

on June 23rd, 2008 at 09:09 am by Jim Louderback in Announcements, Shows

When it comes to wine expertise, no one has more experience, understanding and charisma than Gary Vaynerchuk. He’s clearly the internet’s wine steward, guide and host.

Over the past year, he’s built legions of “Vayniacs”, fans who just can’t get enough of his wine video program Wine Library TV. Every day Gary provides an approachable, energetic and enthusiastic review of 2-3 wines, as he “sniffy-sniffs”, tastes and rates the world’s fermented berry juice.

Don’t think pretentious, though. He’ll never discuss a wine’s bouquet, or use high-falutin’ words that mean nothing. Instead, Wine Library TV is dedicated to dropping the veils of mystery from what ought to be a pleasant, affordable and wonderful accent to life’s meals, gatherings and every-day occasions.

As a clear internet expert, it’s only natural that Wine Library and Revision3 hook up. Gary’s clearly a wine geek, and he’s dedicated to turning everyone else into a passionate wine fan – and shaking up the establishment along the way. And that’s what we do here at Revision3: shake up the established order while helping our viewers expand their passions.

So today we’re pleased to bring Wine Library TV into Revision3. You can watch and subscribe to the program here. But there’s more than just brining the show to you. We’ve added a new twist. Although Wine Library TV is an amazingly fun show to watch, at 15-20 minutes a day it really requires a substantial level of commitment to watch every single episode. I’m a huge fan, and I only manage to watch a few each week.

So for those of you new to Wine Library TV (and those of you like me, with super-short attention spans), we’re proud to announce Wine Library Reserve. With this new program we’ve summarized, and edited a 15-20 minute program down to its essence, to its core, and extracted the best of the best in five minutes or less.

Want a taste of what the Wine Library experience is all about? Try Wine Library Reserve. You’ll be hooked! Then, if something really intrigues you, watch the whole episode.

Because (as Gary says at the end of every episode), you, with a little help from me (Gary) – and now us at Revision3 – are changing the wine world.

Welcome to the revolution. Not only will it be televised, but chances are Gary will find the perfect wine to go along with it.

Go Behind The Scenes of Tekzilla - RESCHEDULED

on June 20th, 2008 at 09:24 am by Ron Richards in Live Events

UPDATE - Unfortunately, we’re going to have to reschedule tomorrow’s live streaming from the Revision3 studio during Tekzilla’s taping. We apologize for the short notice - the new date will be next week, July 1st 2008 at 5:30 PM Eastern/2:30 PM Pacific. We hope you all can join us next week. thanks.

One of the exciting things about Revision3 is the opportunity to do ground breaking and innovative things in the world of Internet Television and we’re psyched to to be challenging ourselves to do this day-in-and-day-out and today, we’ve got something very cool we hope you all will take part in.

As you know, we’ve built a state of the art studio ideal for for our needs in producing great shows like Tekzilla. The wizards in our engineering department have recently made it possible for us to stream live from the studio and we thought what would be cooler than inviting you all into the studio, virtually, to watch a taping of Tekzilla?

Mark your calendars - June 24, 2008 at 5:30 PM (eastern), Veronica Belmont, Patrick Norton and the rest of the Tekzilla crew will be taping the episode of Tekzilla which will be released on June 27th and you’re invited to come watch! Just go to revision3.com/watch to tune into the live stream and chat with other Tekzilla fans. Who knows, maybe Patrick and Veronica will take a break from the show and jump into the chatroom too! When we’re live, anything can happen!

Now, this won’t be a live run through of Tekzilla, rather the raw taping of the show which is then edited into the show that comes out on Fridays, so there will be lots of unfiltered moments behind the scenes. The entire taping will last a few hours, so plan to stick around if you can. I know Patrick and Veronica are excited to share this taping experience with all of you, so we hope you will join us on June 24th!

The New Revision3 Store!

on June 18th, 2008 at 01:55 pm by David Prager in Announcements, Viewer Polls

Hey everyone! Everyone here at Revision3 is putting a whole bunch of effort into building out a brand new Revision3 store and merchandise site. That means new shirts, hats, hoodies, stickers, wristbands, headbands, mouse pads, mugs, beer openers, and everything else awesome.

In an effort to make sure we provide you with everything that you want / need, we are looking to you for thoughts and suggestions about products we could supply from the store. We are open to any and every idea (as long as it is appropriate and possible) for every show. For example, AJ Vaynerchuk (a summer intern of ours) designed a concept for a Revision3 sneaker:

As you can see when we say anything, we really mean it! In addition to the products available in store, we’re going to be planning on some great free giveaways and stuff like that.

If you want to make a suggestion you can either leave a comment on this blog post, or make your way over to the Revision3 forums (here) and join the discussion there! An early favorite of the forums posters (and ours) is the laptop skins!

We are truly excited about getting this thing going and thank you in advance for all of the suggestions!

Epic Fu Comes to Revision3

on June 6th, 2008 at 09:22 am by Jim Louderback in Announcements

This truly is an epic announcement. I’m overjoyed to say that the amazingly entertaining, cool and ground-breaking show Epic Fu is now a part of the Revision3 lineup.

You can read all about it in our Revision3 Epic Fu press release. But let me just add a few more comments.

First, if you’ve never seen Epic Fu, you are in for a BIG treat. The show is wonderfully produced, full of great information about the web and modern culture, and so fast paced, even the Taz the hyperactive Tasmanian Devil would love it.

Second, host Zadi Diaz is a legitimate force on the internet. She’s developed an amazingly strong and loyal fan base, and via their innovative social network, Epic Fu has created an awesome on-line community, called MIX that extends the experience of the show out in virtually every direction. I’m excited to both bring Revision3’s core audience into that community, and to learn from them as we extend and enhance the communities around our other shows.

Finally, producer Steve and Zadi are some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Someone said to me recently that the truly talented are the most humble and real, and that obnoxiously over the top egotists are comparatively lacking in the talent department. If that’s true, Steve and Zadi are prime examples. They are genuine, real, talented and wonderful to work with. I encourage you to watch, download and subscribe. I know you’ll quickly become a passionate Epic Fu fan… just like me!
