One of the biggest challenges for a burgeoning Internet Television network is dealing with the multiple ways our viewers watch and enjoy our show. We’ve been proud to be a leader in the space in terms of supporting numerous file formats, from Quicktime to WMV to XVid, and supporting however our viewers want to get their shows, be it via iTunes or Miro, RSS or Bittorrent, we try to support everyone.
However, a growing number of you have been watching our shows here on Revision3.com via our flash player! We love the fact that so many of you do this as it provides for the most complete experience, as you can watch the show, read the show notes and then head over to to the forums to talk about the episode. That said, we’ve begun to start improving the flash player that delivers our video to you via the website. For those of you familiar with with flash development, you can understand that this can be a pretty big undertaking, so it’s going to take some time – but we have released a smaller update that many of you on slower Internet connections will probably appreciate.
Now, when viewing an episode on Revision3.com, you’ll notice a switch on the bottom right (see below image highlighted in red) that allows you to control the video quality between Low and High. Those of you who are on a 768k or lower speed connection, you might want to consider trying the Low Quality, which should load faster for you.
This is the first small improvement to our flash player experience and you can defnitely expect more to come throughout 2008. If you have any thoughts or suggestions of what we should do to improve/change our flash player, please leave a comment below.
thanks.
