Prime Time, Revision3 Style

March 31st, 2008 at 12:12 by Jim Louderback in Press Releases, Shows, Uncategorized

In the old days, BR (Before Revision3), there was just one prime time. Every night Ma, Pa and the kids would huddle around the communal Philco, eagerly awaiting the latest Father Knows Best, Laugh-In and The Screen Savers.

These days, though, 24-hour availability of programs from Revision3, YouTube, Blip, Transpera and others have turned Prime Time into Every Time. Even so, we’re starting to see some interesting spikes in viewership during certain parts of the day. Evening remains strong, but two new “prime times” have emerged.

The first one? Noon to 2pm during the week. It’s obvious in retrospect; clearly there are a lot of videos being consumed during extended lunch breaks around the world. Here at Revision3 we’re particularly excited about lunch-time viewing – so much so, that today we’re changing our show release schedule to coincide with this new prime time.

We used to release new episodes of your favorite shows at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm eastern. But that meant many of you missed those new episodes during your lunch break. Not any more! Today we’re advancing that schedule by an hour. That means east-coast based fans of Internet Superstar and Tekzilla, for example, can now watch those shows the day they they debut, during lunch at noon – on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Totally Rad Show, Digg Reel and popSiren on the west coast are now similarly blessed. And for all your Diggnation fans that just can’t wait – you’ll get it an hour earlier on Friday too (except, perhaps, this week, given the vagaries of transmitting huge files from Amsterdam).

You can see our brand new Revision3 show schedule right here! Happy lunching.

Oh, what about that second prime time? This one pertains mostly to young men, and happens on the weekends between about midnight and 4am. I’ll hazard no guesses as to what they’re watching, but suffice it to say that Revision3, at least, will not be pandering to that particular video need.

Diggnation braves the St. Louis weather!

February 22nd, 2008 at 04:38 by David Prager in Uncategorized

You’ve probably noticed that the release of Diggnation 138 – Live from St. Louis has been delayed. We’ve been reading the forums while stranded here at the airport, and just like radzack, todd, dstrack007 and many more, we’ve been stuck in St. Louis due to the ice!

Glenn was able to get a flight back to San Francisco this morning, and he’s been frantically editing and encoding throughout his travel – even on the plane. Though I’m stuck in Chicago right now, I can tell you the episode will be released as soon as humanly possible and it’ll be worth the wait, so sit tight and enjoy this St. Louis teaser Revision3 has put together for you.

Kevin, Alex, Glenn, Jim, Brad and I really enjoyed meeting everyone and were amazed at the turnout, especially those who made time to travel in. We hope you had as much fun as we did.

Cheers,
David Prager

Infected Cancelled???!!! WTF

December 7th, 2007 at 01:47 by Jim Louderback in Uncategorized

Yeah, yeah, I’m the bad guy. Martin Sargent’s groundbreaking show Infected has been cancelled after 50 episodes. But before you start firebombing my car or DDoS-ing my home, wait until you hear the “rest of the story”.

First, why did I kill Infected? Well it was actually a joint agreement between Martin, Gator, Sarah and me. The show was funny, but it was too insular, had too many in-jokes, and in fact it wasn’t broad enough to enable some of the things we really wanted to do. Infected was born in Martin’s LA home, and now that he lives here, and now that we have a full-on studio to play with, things are different.

Thus Internet Superstar was born. It’ll have a lot of the great stuff you loved about Infected, but it’ll let Martin and Gator do even more creative and funny elements, and it’ll let us bring in more fascinating guests from around the world.

So yes, shed a tear for Infected. But I hope you’re looking forward to Internet Superstar as much as I am. Don’t think of it as an end to Infected. Instead, look at Internet Superstar as Infected 2.0.

Martin’s new show will debut in January, and until then, he’ll be working hard on new Web Drifter episodes, along with taking a day or two to rest. Thanks to everyone who’s been so vocal about Infected and supporting Martin. Enjoy Internet Superstar — heck, you might even get a chance to be as guest someday!
