Film Riot is also joined by some of our classic shows: Diggnation, Scam School and Tekzilla, as nominees for the very competitive category of “Best Video Podcast.” We’re honored to represent 40% of the nominees in that category!

We love the Podcast Awards because it’s completely audience submitted and voted on. In previous years, Diggnation and The Totally Rad Show have won, and we’d love to add some more wins in 2009.

Hak5 will be LIVE at Virginia Tech this Saturday, November 7th. Join us at 7:00 PM for the best of networking, hacking and homebrew and Q&A. They’ll be in Torgersen 2150 at 201 Burruss Hall on the Virginia Tech campus in Blackburg, VA. Then later at 9:00 we’ll be for the first time experiencing Bar Golf, a VT tradition that the entire Hak5 gang would love to see you at. So lock down your firewalls and get ready for some Technolust as Hak5 begins the campus invasion. See you there!

Specifically of note in this most recent episode (that would be 227) is that Kevin finally ditched his beloved Mac to use a Windows 7 PC -but not just any PC, the brand new Nokia Booklet 3G.

Next up, we wanted to make sure everyone knows about the fact that we’ll be doing a live Diggnation for the 2nd time this year in New York City. We’ll be at The Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center on November 17th from 7pm until late. We’d love it if you would let us know if you can come see us by RSVPing on our Facebook event page.

Coming later this month, we’ll have brand new Diggnation branded hoodies in the Revision3 Store. We just may be throwing some out into the crowd at
the New York live show.

Finally, also in the store later this month, expect to see the first official Diggnation DVD. In it, we’ll have a compilation of best of moments from 200+ episodes of Diggnation, some deleted scenes (yes, we have actually deleted scenes), plus never before seen footage from live events and other behind the scenes footage. Oh and we pieced together every last joke sponsor of Diggnation into a whopping 25 minutes of back-to-back joke sponsors - it is quite an entertaining piece of video.

My HD Nation co-host Robert Heron and I have been brought down to cover the event. We love HD on Blu-ray, so it’s gonna be a fun day!

I’m a huge fan of his movies, so Martin Scorsese’s keynote, “How Blu-ray Impacts the Movie Experience” is a must see. Some major movie studios will be talking about what’s coming for BD-Live and Digital Copy. Another one we can’t wait to see is Best Buy’s Mike Vitelli; he’ll be talking about “How Consumers Consume Entertainment.”

And on a panel we can’t wait to see, folks from Netflix, Sony Electronics, Roxio CinemaNow and Blockbuster on Demand will talk about network streaming, “Building a Bridge to Blu-ray.”

And then there’s the whole Blu-ray 3D thing. Robert’s had a chance to see Panasonic’s Full HD 3D demo, but I haven’t… will I fall on the Roger Ebert side o’ the 3D debate? We’ll find out!

Yes Brian, There is a Santa Claus

A few weeks ago I got a message from Revision3 fan Brian Desmon, asking whether there was any chance of Revision3 shows appearing on Roku’s groundbreaking internet video box – known mostly for its integration with Netflix on Demand.

I had to skirt the issue – but no more! Finally I can tell the world! Revision3 will be on Roku! Our amazing team of web designers and developers have been slaving over the implementation for the last few months – and their amazing efforts have borne some pretty tasty fruit.

I still can’t say exactly when, beyond “very soon now”. But I can give you a sneak peek of what it’ll look like. Check out this week’s Tekzilla for a look at the upcoming Revision3 channel on Roku. And if you don’t have a Roku, what are you waiting for? It streams Baseball, Netflix movies and Amazon Unbox today, with a wide variety of other video channels coming soon.

The box itself costs $99. And unlike today’s services, we’re going to be 100% free – and in amazing high definition as well (if your internet connection is fast enough).

That’s right, now there’s even more reason to buy a Roku! So if you love our shows, and want to watch them on a big TV, pick up a Roku today. They make great holiday presents too.. (hint hint).

Literally every cent you give goes to fighting pediatric cancer. First off, Bytejacker, launching tomorrow, Thursday, September 24th. Anthony Carboni has been doing this show from his rooftop in Brooklyn as a labor of love…now it will be a labor for the Revision3 audience! The moment I saw this show with its dead-on reviews and hilarious writing style, I knew it would be a perfect fit for us and a great compliment to CO-OP. Bytejacker covers games that seem to fall under the radar in traditional media, but they are games you definitely want to be playing. Anthony is a fantastic host and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him and the Bytejacker crew to the Revision3 family! In addition to Bytejacker, today we’re also announcing Revision3’s first sitcom, Web Zeroes. Smooth Few Films (made up of Eddy, Nick and Daniel) have been making popular machinima shows for quite some time now. Their side project was a pilot series for a brand new sitcom about the world of Web 2.0. It’s a show that comes right out of these guys’ IRL experiences navigating the world of the web.
