JV’s World Update

October 20th, 2009 at 11:17 by Ryan Vance in Announcements, Shows

A quick update to let everyone know that this past episode of JV’s World will be the last on Revision3. JV’s main job as a top-rated morning show host here in the SF Bay Area keeps him extremely busy and he’s needing to focus in on those endeavors. We’ve had a great time watching this show evolve and seeing all the fearless experiments in social engineering that JV has embarked upon. He’s an extremely dynamic and creative entertainer and we wish him the best of luck in all his future projects! Keep up with all that JV is doing in the future at www.jvsworld.com or www.twitter.com/jvsworld.

Roku…here comes Revision3

October 15th, 2009 at 04:27 by Jim Louderback in Announcements

Yes Brian, There is a Santa Claus

A few weeks ago I got a message from Revision3 fan Brian Desmon, asking whether there was any chance of Revision3 shows appearing on Roku’s groundbreaking internet video box – known mostly for its integration with Netflix on Demand.

I had to skirt the issue – but no more! Finally I can tell the world! Revision3 will be on Roku! Our amazing team of web designers and developers have been slaving over the implementation for the last few months – and their amazing efforts have borne some pretty tasty fruit.

I still can’t say exactly when, beyond “very soon now”. But I can give you a sneak peek of what it’ll look like. Check out this week’s Tekzilla for a look at the upcoming Revision3 channel on Roku. And if you don’t have a Roku, what are you waiting for? It streams Baseball, Netflix movies and Amazon Unbox today, with a wide variety of other video channels coming soon.

The box itself costs $99. And unlike today’s services, we’re going to be 100% free – and in amazing high definition as well (if your internet connection is fast enough).

That’s right, now there’s even more reason to buy a Roku! So if you love our shows, and want to watch them on a big TV, pick up a Roku today. They make great holiday presents too.. (hint hint).

Totally Rad Show Teams Up to Fight Pediatric Cancer

October 15th, 2009 at 02:59 by Ron Richards in Polemics

As the leading cause of death by disease in kids, every year more than 12,000 infants and children are diagnosed with cancer. To put it into relative terms, that means 1 in every 300 kids will be diagnosed with some sort of pediatric cancer by the age of 20. I know, not the most pleasant topic… but just try to imagine having to live with it every second of you life, let alone think about it. Pediatric cancer can be caused by so many things, and unfortunately there is no effective way to prevent or cure it… yet.

Now, you may already know that medical research is the strongest chance that these kids have to fight, and research funded by you is a large source of research progression. Alex, Dan and Jeff of The Totally Rad Show know how much of an impact that one person can make, so they have decided to team up and raise money with Extra Life by participating in their 2nd Annual 24-hour Game-a-thon. We all play games for 24 hours straight anyway, so why not put those uber-micro skills to good use?

This fun and impactful cause supported by the Texas Children’s Hospital has gotten the attention and sympathy of so many of us, including your very own totally rad friends. Literally every cent you give goes to fighting pediatric cancer. I know times are tough and everyone’s tight with their budget right now, but you know it’s not as tough as being 12 and having to live in a hospital and fight a terminal illness every day. Your support in donating will make you feel so good (even better than beating Halo on Legendary) and quite literally save lives.

So how can you get involved? Show your support for the Totally Rad Show and their 24 hours of video games playing by pledging and donating to this great cause.

Thanks.

The First New Fall Shows: Bytejacker & Web Zeroes

September 23rd, 2009 at 12:05 by Ryan Vance in Announcements, Shows

It’s my pleasure to officially welcome TWO new shows to the Revision3 slate!

First off, Bytejacker, launching tomorrow, Thursday, September 24th. Anthony Carboni has been doing this show from his rooftop in Brooklyn as a labor of love…now it will be a labor for the Revision3 audience! The moment I saw this show with its dead-on reviews and hilarious writing style, I knew it would be a perfect fit for us and a great compliment to CO-OP. Bytejacker covers games that seem to fall under the radar in traditional media, but they are games you definitely want to be playing. Anthony is a fantastic host and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him and the Bytejacker crew to the Revision3 family! As an example of his awesomeness, check out the graphic to the right that he created to celebrate our joining of forces. Follow them on twitter at @acarboni and @bytejacker and be sure to head over to revision3.com/bytejacker tomorrow, and every Thursday for new episodes!

In addition to Bytejacker, today we’re also announcing Revision3’s first sitcom, Web Zeroes. Smooth Few Films (made up of Eddy, Nick and Daniel) have been making popular machinima shows for quite some time now. Their side project was a pilot series for a brand new sitcom about the world of Web 2.0. It’s a show that comes right out of these guys’ IRL experiences navigating the world of the web. Pulling inspiration from single camera sitcoms like Arrested Development and 30 Rock, this show gets its comedy from the world YOU inhabit and are passionate about….that’s right: the internets. Eddy, Nick and Daniel really DO live in Houston and really ARE working on becoming famous on the internet….and we’re extremely excited to be bringing you their story, starting October 7th! Meanwhile you can follow them on twitter: @eddyrivas @ianfreeze @nickcomardo @smoothfewfilms. Check out the trailer to the series at revision3.com/webzeroes and tune in on October 7th to catch the first episode!

We’re always looking to bring you the shows you want to watch and I look forward to announcing even more new shows we’ve got in the works for later this fall….stay tuned!

thanks.

CO-OP & The Totally Rad Show Do PAX!

August 31st, 2009 at 09:07 by Ron Richards in Live Events

If you’re into video games, then there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll be attending the Penny Arcade Expo (also known as PAX) in Seattle, Washington this coming weekend. PAX has only been around for a few years, but has quickly grown to be one of the premiere video game events, a must attend for gamers, developers and fans alike.

Of course it wouldn’t really be a complete event without some representation from Revision3’s awesome shows that cover video games, right? We’re pleased to announce that if you’re going to PAX, you will have THREE chances to see the guys from CO-OP and The Totally Rad Show! Here’s the breakdown of Revision3 events at PAX.

CO-OP & Totally Rad Show Meetup
When: Friday, September 4 - 7:00 PM
Where: The Blarney Stone - 1909 3rd Ave - Seattle Washington
PAX is the premiere video game convention and Revision3’s video game shows CO-OP and The Totally Rad Show will be in attendance and want to meet you! All fans of both shows are invited for a night of drinks and hanging out and talking video games!

Panels at PAX

Live Taping of CO-OP at PAX
When: Friday, September 4 - 5:30 PM
Where: Raven Theatre
Learn how to make your own video podcast! Area 5 Media, formed after the breakup of 1UP’s video department, has a new, online show in the vein of The 1UP Show. CO-OP, currently available on iTunes and on the Revision3 website is the spiritual successor to The 1UP Show and features many of the same cast of characters. This panel will be a “live recording” of a special, PAX episode of CO-OP featuring YOU! Area 5 believes that every gamer has a brain and that the domain of game criticism shouldn’t be restricted just to those lucky enough to have it as their job. Two game chats will be shot in the same style as they are featured on CO-OP and will consist of two members of the Area 5 team (or guests) and at least one member from the CO-OP community. There will then be a demonstration of video-capture and editing processes followed by a Q&A session where anyone can ask questions either about the technicalities of creating a video podcast or about Area 5 and CO-OP.

Totally Rad Show Podcast and Q&A
When: Saturday, September 5th - Noon
Where: Wolfman Theatre

The Totally Rad Show: Live - Hosts Alex Albrecht (Diggnation), Dan Trachtenberg, and Jeff Cannata bring their Webby and Podcast Award winning geek culture show back to PAX, this time for a live performance. Join the guys for an explosion of movie, video game, TV, and comic book news and reviews, and see what makes this Revision3 show such an Internet phenomenon.

For more information on the PAX Panels and Programming, head over to the PAX Site

If you’re going to PAX, we hope you can make it out to see CO-OP and the Totally Rad Show live as well as the meetup!

Have fun and game on!
