May 27th, 2009 at 11:09 by Ron Richards in Live Events, Shows

The first week of June is gearing up to be a big one for Revision3 as we span from coast to coast with exciting events and coverage for you. Whether you’re in Los Angeles for the celebration of video games at E3 or in New York City for Internet Week, Revision3 has some cool events and appearances lined up for you. If you’re not in LA or NYC, you can still take part in the fun from home with our coverage and episode releases. Here’s the rundown of what’s going on in June:

E3 - This is the mega huge video game expo in LA where all the latest and greatest from the video game world is presented and demoed. Of course Revision3 is there in spades with CO-OP and the Totally Rad Show on hand to cover the event. With both shows covering the event, we could not contain the amount of awesomeness going on, so we created a one stop spot for everything E3 at Revision3, or “RevisionE3″ as we like to call it. Just head over to revision3.com/e3 and you can tune in to the LIVE stream featuring the TRS guys AND the CO-OP team live from the show floor - June 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 7 PM Eastern / 4 PM Pacific. In addition to the live shows, CO-OP will be releasing DAILY specials from E3, and the Totally Rad Show will be releasing their E3 reactions on June 9th.

Diggnation in NYC - Last year’s live Diggnation in New York City was a sold out event and was insane. This year, we return to New York City with our friends from Digg to host Diggnation LIVE and host a Digg Meetup at a bigger venue: Webster Hall in Manhattan. If you live in the New York Metro area, you’re not going want to miss this as it’s looking to be one of the biggest live Diggnations ever!

Digital Content Newfront 2009
On June 3rd, we’re partnering with the fine folks at Digitas to live stream their very cool event, the Digital Content Newfront 2009. Hosted by Jake and Amir from Collegehumor, with appearances by Al Gore, Tom Green and many others from the world of new media, the day’s events are a topical discussion about the world of new media and advertising is changing. If you’re interested in new media and the business of new media, then don’t miss the events, which Revision3 is bringing directly to your screen. Just head over to revision3.com/newfront for all the info!

I told you the first week of June was going to be huge. You don’t wont to miss a single live stream, episode or live event! We hope you’re as excited about these events as we are and look forward to seeing all of you there!

Welcome to the New Revision3.com

May 20th, 2009 at 01:50 by Ron Richards in Announcements, Website

We are very pleased and excited to welcome you to the new brand new Revision3.com! Revision3.com has gone through several iterations since we first began back in 2005, and this website represents the 4th version of Revision3.com and I’m pretty sure you’ll agree that it’s the best one yet.

So just what exactly has changed? Practically everything! Here’s a brief summary of the changes to the site with Revision3.com version 4.0 that you can expect:

Updated Design - It’s a brand new site with a brand new interface. Every section and page of the site has been redesigned and improved from the previous version. In addition, we’ve made navigation easier on the site so you can get around and find what you want. We’ve even given some love to the forums, so it’s fresh, new and ready to be used.

BIGGER & Better Video - We’ve increased the size of our video player, so now when you’re watching your favorite show, it truly is an entertaining experience. We’ve also added some cool features like the ability to pop out the player to another window or to put it in theater mode and make the video really pop.

User Preferences - We want to make the Revision3 website the site YOU want it to be, each and every one of you. To do that, we’ve begun expanding the User Preferences section to allow for customization of what you see and how you use revision3.com. Admittedly there isn’t much there right now but from what is there, you should get the general idea of what will be coming. Expect to see this area expanded on the most over the upcoming weeks, so make sure you register and log in to the site when you visit.

Enhanced Shows and Host Pages - We’ve redesigned all the show pages so that it’s easier to browse and find your favorite episodes. We’ve also worked to make sure our search functionality gives you the results your looking for. It’s also easier to find information about your favorite show host, such as the link to the their blog, Facebook Profile or whatever other social network they may be on.

Twitter! - Twitter’s everywhere these days, so why not Revision3? You may notice that we’ve worked with our friends at SquareSpace to create a Revision3 Twitter directory so it’s easy to find everyone from Revision3 on Twitter. We’ve also integrated the Twitter feeds of our hosts on their pages so you can see what they’re up to, minute by minute.

Under The Hood - For those of you interested in how things work, a lot of the changes and improvements come from behind the scenes. Previously, as many of you know, we were using WordPress for our content management needs. As we’ve grown, we’ve outgrown WordPress as a solution. Don’t get us wrong, we still love WordPress and still use it for our blog, but for running the site, we learned a lot from using it and have evolved beyond its capabilities. Now we’re running an internally produced content management system that was built on a PHP based MVC framework. And what’s even better is that we’re primed to grow from here, making it easy to add new features and functionality later on (hint hint).

As I said, we’re immensely excited for the site. Personally I love the new look and I love how bright the future looks for Revision3.com. We’re going to be building from here and creating some cool features for all Revision3 fans to come and enjoy. We hope you like the new site as much as we do, and please let us know what you think either by e-mailing us or on the forums.

I’d like to take a moment and put the spotlight on the awesome team here at Revision3 that labored for months to bring you the new Revision3.com - Stephanie Chu, Ryan LaBarre, Jeff Rizzo, Chuck Siu, Brendan White and a few others who are unfortunately no longer with us here at Revision3. All your hard work and dedication has absolutely paid off and I hope all the loyal Revision3 fans join me in applauding you.

thanks.
- Ron Richards

200th Diggnation Reaches Milestone

April 29th, 2009 at 11:40 by Ryan Vance in Shows

Today marks a milestone in not only Revision3’s history, but that of internet television as a medium. Today we celebrate Diggnations’s 200th episode. The show started with a phone call from Kevin Rose to Alex Albrecht. They decided that since iTunes was going to be starting video podcasts, they should put one up. That call happened on a Tuesday and the first episode of Diggnation was posted that Thursday. With that, a revolution in online video began and since then an episode of Diggnation has gone up every week, pretty much without fail. Over the years, Kevin, Alex and their tireless producer David Prager have put tons of time and creativity into this show and have grown an audience of devoted and rabid fans that include celebrities, politicians, athletes, men, women and pets!

Recently we did a live Diggnation on stage at Stubbs in Austin during South By Southwest. Stubbs is the premiere venue in Austin and is the “place to be” during SXSW. When the owner of the venue looked out at the crowd of thousands of screaming fans who had come to see Diggnation that night, he said “I’ve never seen anything like this….this isn’t a band…this is two guys on a couch!” That’s true, but as we all know the show is much more than that. It’s authentic, hilarious, visionary, boozy, community driven and just plain fun. It’s truly a unique and watershed show and this is a moment to be acknowledged by the entertainment industry as a whole.

So, please join me in congratulating the team that makes Diggnation every week: Kevin, Alex, Prager, Hippie Glenn, Mauricio the editor and the Revision3 staff as a whole. The next two hundred episodes are going to be even better than the first!

Vote Diggnation in the Webby’s

April 23rd, 2009 at 10:25 by Ron Richards in Announcements

Webby AwardsAs you may have seen on a recent episode of The Totally Rad Show, we’re immensely honored and flattered to hear that Diggnation was nominated for a Webby Award in the 13th annual Webby Awards!

Nominated for an award in the Online Film & Video: Technology category, Diggnation is up against some great shows like CNET TV and Boing Boing TV and others. No matter who wins, it’s great to see such great shows get recognized.

But it doesn’t stop there! Last year, Diggnation won the People’s Choice Award for best show in the Online Film & Video: Technology category and we’d love to see the Diggnation fanbase represent again and help us bring home the Webby again! So this is where you can get involved.

Head over to the Webby’s People Choice voting site, register and cast your ballot for Diggnation! Diggnation is for you, the loyal audience and we can’t do it without you - we appreciate your support!

In addition to Diggnation, Revision3 was recognized as Official Honorees in Online Film & Video: Systm for the How-To and DIY category and the Totally Rad Show for the Variety category. It’s great to see our shows get noticed and recognized as more and more people jump on the Internet TV bandwagon and watch our great shows.

Thanks!
