About Diggnation
Diggnation is a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories presented by co-hosts Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose.

Alex Albrecht has participated in the entertainment industry for six years. He founded and directed the popular, Los Angeles-based improv comedy troupe, The Misfit Toys. The group was featured in Stuff Magazine and on MTV. Alex subsequently appeared in a number of national television commercials for companies such as Volkswagen, Domino’s, and Dell. After a chance meeting with a TechTV producer at a wedding, Alex landed the co-hosting role on TechTV’s The Screen Savers. It was at TechTV that he met Kevin Rose, and one of the most successful Internet television partnerships was born.

Kevin Rose is the founder and chief architect of Digg. He oversees all aspects of the management and development of the Web site. Kevin started Digg in September 2004 as a personal project. His initial idea was to conduct a social experiment in how masses of users could control and promote news and other content on the Web, without external editorial control. After a very short time, he realized the power of his idea, as Digg was becoming a resource for breaking news stories and developed a strong community following. Kevin is also a co-founder of Revision3, where, as a member of the board, he provides strategic direction to the company.

REVISION3 ADDS HAK5 PROGRAM TO HIT LINEUP

on August 14th, 2008 at 11:41 am by David Carmona in Press Releases

—NEW EPISODES INVITE GEEKS AND HACKERS TO ‘TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST’—

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – August 14, 2008 – Revision3, the TV network for the Internet generation, today announced that it is bringing Hak5, a home-grown hit series fusing underground culture and mainstream IT, to its weekly lineup of pop culture shows. Covering everything from network security, open source software and forensics, to Do It Yourself projects and the homebrew scene, new episodes of Hak5 will launch September 8th on Revision3 at www.revision3.com/hak5.

“Back when we launched Tekzilla, a few fans accused us of ripping off Hak5’s brick-encrusted set. The correlation was spurious, but rather than alienate the industry’s top hackers, we decided it would be better to team up with Hak5 instead,” said Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. “Seriously, it’s great to have such a hardcore hacking show round out our coverage for tech fanatics everywhere. And given the street cred of the Hak5 team, I’d rather have them with us than against us.”

Hak5, known as a hybrid of technology and geek humor, has been put together by a band of IT ninjas, security professionals and gaming enthusiasts since 2005. Within its first few months on-air the show had become a hit among tech enthusiasts as well as mainstream media, and currently attracts fans from around the world.

“With this partnership we intend to focus solely on delivering the kind of unique and high quality content our loyal viewers have come to expect”, said Darren Kitchen, Producer, Hak5. “We’re excited to become a part of Revision3’s great lineup of shows – and to extend our devoted audience in the near future.”

The first episode of Hak5 will launch on Revision3 on September 8, 2008. Episodes will be hosted by Darren Kitchen, Matt Lestock and Shannon Morse and will appear regularly every Wednesday at 12 p.m. EST.

REVISION3 LAUNCHES REVISION3 BETA WITH PARTNER VIDDLER IN A SEARCH FOR THE NEXT INTERNET SUPERSTAR

on August 14th, 2008 at 11:39 am by David Carmona in Press Releases

—TOP PROGRAMMING WILL SECURE A SPOT IN REVISION3’S AWARD WINNING LINEUP—

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – August 14, 2008 – Revision3, the TV network for the Internet generation, is on the prowl for the next great Internet superstars. Today, the company announces the launch of Revision3 Beta, which utilizes the strength and experience of Revision3 to identify upcoming talent and build the future of Internet television. Revision3’s partner in this initiative is Viddler, one of the web’s fastest growing video sites.

“We’re big fans of Viddler’s easy to use interface and powerful player,” said Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. “By combining our creative expertise with their platform, we’re creating an environment that lets talented video creators build their expertise and audience.”

And Revision3 Beta isn’t just for tech geeks. The initiative is interested in every genre of programming–from scripted comedy and dramas to DIY and documentaries. The search is headed by Martin Sargent, director of acquisitions, Revision3, and host of Internet Superstar.

“Revision3 is establishing what we’re calling a ‘farm team’ of new shows,” said Sargent. “Shows that succeed in the farm system of Revision3 Beta – by acquiring audiences and building communities – have the opportunity to be called up to the majors of the main Revision3 site. Revision3 Beta will identify exceptional content producers and expose their programs to our vast fan base, parlaying these awesome new shows into the next big thing.”

As the landscape of new media becomes more and more crowded, it is increasingly difficult for talented content producers and hosts to find audiences for their shows. With no limit to the type or style of show, Revision3 Beta is interested in anything engaging and short form. Revision3 Beta will launch with approximately six shows in mid-September 2008, and will then open the door to all other content producers to submit their shows and join the exciting new lineup.

Content producers can submit programming at www.revision3beta.com.

REVISION3 AND REVVER ANNOUNCE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT

on June 17th, 2008 at 10:24 am by Tyler Howarth in Press Releases

–Revision3’s Award-Winning Shows Now Available on the Revver Network–

LOS ANGELES and SAN FRANCISCO, June 16th, 2008Revision3, the TV network for the internet generation, and Revver, the first video sharing service powered by advertising, have announced that they have reached an agreement to bring Revision3’s award-winning shows to Revver’s global audience network.

Scam School, Revision3’s two-month old show about bar tricks, street cons and scams, will be the first to appear on the Revver network, followed shortly by episodes from Revision3’s production roster, which includes Diggnation, iFanboy, Tekzilla, and popSiren, as well as 2008 Webby Award winner The Totally Rad Show. Episodes from productions that have recently joined Revision3 – including Epic-Fu and WineLibraryTV – will also be featured on Revver.

The relationship will bring incremental advertising revenue to Revision3 through Revver’s pioneering revenue-sharing model, which has been in place since Revver launched in late 2005. In October, 2007, Revver announced that the company had shared one million dollars with video creators, the first online service to hit that benchmark. Under the terms of the agreement, Revision3 will also be able to sell ads against content that appears on Revver, for an additional share of revenues.

“We are thrilled to be working with Revision3,” said Kevin Wells, CEO of Revver. “They’re truly innovators when it comes to internet television. Our recent merger with Live Universe means that we now have more than 55 million monthly visitors to introduce to our content partners – and Revision3 is perfectly positioned to appeal to that audience.”

“Revver is a key partner in our distribution efforts,” said Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. “They have consistently led the way in bringing new capabilities to online video, and we’re excited to bring our shows to their audience.”

The first episodes of Scam School to be featured on Revver can be found at www.revver.com/u/scamschool.
