Manager, Audience Insights

Position Description:
Revision3, a Discovery Digital video network, is looking for a Manager of Audience Insights. The Audience Development team is tasked with expanding the reach of our innovative video offerings across digital channels.
The Manager of Audience Insights will be responsible for overseeing the development, creation and maintenance of key audience analyses and reporting to the Audience Development team and is a key contributor to strategy and problem solving across the company. This role will also help drive key research initiatives.
This role involves a high degree of facility with online video metrics, such as YouTube, and the ability to help frame business questions as insightful cuts of data that can form the basis for meaningful dialogue and actionable tactics. In a word, the Manager, Audience Insights helps ask the right questions to keep our teams on the right track toward our goal of increasing engagement, subscribers and, ultimately, views.

This position will be measured on:

  • Consistency of quality of regular analyses and reporting that drives business decisions and audience development tactics
  • Attention to detail and commitment to fresh, original ways of cutting data to reveal new insights and key performance indicators
  • Ability to manage multiple constituents and provide valuable insights and reporting to several functional groups at once

    Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and analyze key business drivers, competitive environment, opportunities, trends, and operating metrics
  • Design, scope and implement key research initiatives and audience studies to support Audience Development, Programming and Advertising Sales
  • Execute sophisticated quantitative analyses and advanced modeling that translates data into actionable insights
  • Analyze research data and synthesize raw information into insights and recommendations
  • Prepare presentations and clearly communicate findings from initiatives to senior management and to the broader organization Own part of larger initiatives both on an ongoing basis and on an ad-hoc basis

    Required Skills:

  • 1-3 years working as a data analyst or researcher in an online video or similar media business
  • Distinctive problem-solving and analysis skills, including the ability to work with team leads to frame problems, structure analyses, and drive to implementation
  • Background in CS, statistics, machine learning, or financial analysis a plus
  • Experience or strong interest for the media and online video space
  • Expert facility with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other insights & data-visualization tools



    Senior Data Engineer/Architect

    Position Description:

    Revision3, the leading special interest video network, is looking for an experienced Sr. Data Engineer/Architech to handle design and development of Revision3's analytics and reporting. This position is an individual contributor role involving the design and maintenance of Revision3's data warehouse and reporting system. This position will also have an opportunity to influence design and implementation of a large scale data warehouse, cloud architecture, video, and advertising reporting framework.

    The ideal candidate will have significant experience (10+ years) with data warehouse/ETL/Cloud technologies, and web service APIs. Cross-platform database programming using other languages and client APIs is a plus.

    Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement and maintain a scalable data platform that would serve the analytics and reporting needs of the organization.

    Required Skills:

  • Solid experience in design, development, architecting and support of large scale data warehouse.
  • Experience in setting up and managing ETL environments.
  • Expert in ETL techniques and best practices to handle large volumes of data.
  • Expertise around database programming and performance tuning techniques both in the ETL and RDBMS.
  • Strong knowledge in extracting data from a variety of different sources including, RDBMS, API & files.
  • Strong development experience with Shell, Python, Perl, PHP or similar.
  • Experience in dimensional data modeling.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL (MySQL preferred).
  • Experience in Hadoop, HBase and Hive.
  • Knowledgeable in reporting solution is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work with both internal and external customers and meet project deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required.

    Education:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science and Technology


    Executive Producer

    Position Description:

    Revision3 the leading special interest video network, is ramping up a new content vertical and we are looking for an Executive Producer to run it. The primary goal of this EP is to oversee all content creation, acquisition and development for assigned Revision3 content verticals. Candidates must have 5-10 years experience in producing TV or Web Video content, managing a team of producers, APs and editors for entertainment purposes. Knowledge of YouTube and how web video audiences are developed online is a must. Candidates must also possess a high level of creativity and an expert ability to lead and manage projects and teams as assigned.

    Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and Manage created content for assigned shows within budget
  • Oversee and Manage content for live remotes
  • Manage team of Producers, APs, editors and/or production staff and interns
  • Manage talent and contractors
  • Provide guidance for channel and partner acquisitions
  • Interact with external and internal departments of all levels
  • Manage development, planning and production of new Revision3 properties

    Required Skills:

    Edit & Production Intern

    Position Description: Revision3, a Discovery Digital video network, is looking for qualified Edit and Production interns to learn to support our programming and production teams. Get unparalleled hands on experience in show production and editing.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist show teams with daily show coordination, content research, and general office duties
  • Support producers during studio production and teleprompt
  • Support field productions: research locations, coordinate equipment, gather releases, and more
  • Coordinate and organize supporting documentation: music clearances, release forms, sponsor approvals, etc
  • Assist with Premiere Pro edit projects: ingest, organize and a-roll
  • Help source and capture b-roll footage
  • Support graphics production for thumbnails
  • Write engaging metadata for show titles and descriptions as needed
  • Review episodes before upload for quality assurance

    Required Skills:

  • Proficient with FCP and Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as needed
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

    Audience Development Intern

    Position Description: Revision3, the leading online special interest video network, is looking for an Audience Development Intern who is interested in learning innovative new tactics to help with Revision3's efforts to grow viewership to the company's entertaining and informative episodic shows. This Intern position will gain extensive hands-on experience working with our Audience Development team to support this effort. The Intern will learn how to maintain and grow the company's extensive distribution platform, develop and implement paid and organic search campaigns, and build successful viewership campaigns on video sharing and video destination sites.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help increase awareness of Revision3, and learn to drive viewers and traffic to our site and to our partners
    vAssist with YouTube promotion for each new video release, including optimization, cross promotions, etc
  • Assist in creating and executing a solid blogger and webmaster outreach program
  • Learn to use web analytic tools efficiently to analyze and create reports
  • Assist with daily posting to social media sites including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Google+, Instagram
  • Participate in daily meetings to discuss trends and help determine show content

    Required Skills:

  • Highly motivated, digital media enthusiast and experience with YouTube and social media platforms

    Marketing Communications Intern

    Position Description: Revision3, a Discovery Digital video network, is looking for qualified Marketing Communications Intern interested in learning and assisting with Revision3's PR and Marketing efforts to support the company's entertaining and informative episodic shows. Gain extensive hands-on experience working directly with the Senior Director of Communications. Learn how to create and disseminate news announcements, research industry conferences for executive team, assist with event planning, copywriting for marketing materials, assess marketing opportunities and more.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General support for Marketing & Communications needs, ranging from publication research to deployment of blog posts, swag management, newsletter creation and copywriting
  • Create marketing materials including banners, stickers, postcards and flyers

    Required Skills:

  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Basic design and publishing skills as related to marketing campaigns
