Happy Friday, everyone! If you didn't win a Torchlight 2 beta code on today's live show, keep an eye on our Twitter & Facebook feeds this weekend! In the meantime, NEWS! Max Payne 3 gets a launch trailer, Assassin's Creed III gets a gameplay trailer, Hitman Absolution gets a fun Sniper mini-challenge, and Republique hit its Kickstarter goal - and to wrap it all up, we've got a hands-on preview of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor!
Episode 305 of the Destructoid Show:
A new trailer for Assassin's Creed III has appeared. The sequence is made up largely of footage members of the press had been shown back in March, specifically a mission set around the battle of Bunker Hill. And all of this as narration from our new Assassin, Connor, gives us his thoughts on the division of his world and what his place is in it. (Conrad Zimmerman)
Hitman: Absolution won't be releasing until November but Square/Enix has partnered with GameStop to offer pre-order customers an early taste of what they can expect with a bonus game, Hitman: Sniper Challenge. It is pretty much exactly what the title would imply, a single mission entirely centered around the use of a sniper rifle. (Conrad Zimmerman)
Republique, the promising stealth game that has been seeking funds on Kickstarter, finally hit its $500,000 funding goal with less than seven hours to spare. Talk about an impressive photo finish. The game was only past the halfway mark this week, and while many remained hopeful, it seemed quite likely that the project would see an unceremonious end at the starting gate. However, a last minute push for coverage and donations saw an astounding burst toward the goal, and with just hours left on the clock, Camoflaj has what it asked for. (Jim Sterling)
Max Payne 3 releases next week, so it's only fitting that Rockstar would deliver a cinematic treat to remind everyone of this fact. Behold this trailer, in which a brooding Max Payne (as if there were any other kind) reflects on the twists and turns his life has taken and why he's not like anyone else. (Conrad Zimmerman)
If you own a Kinect (and I know some of you do), then there's little doubt it's experienced a bit of neglect. Or perhaps you love it do death and play it regularly, I don't know. If you are one of those people who slightly regrets their purchase, however -- I know plenty of you exist -- then you're definitely going to want to keep an eye on Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. (Ryan Perez)
