Catherine comes out next week, and we've got the official Destructoid video review! Plus, Goldeneye is getting reloaded for PS3 and 360, Mega Man Legends 3 is cancelled, and Aliens are infesting the Nintendo DS!
Episode 152 of the Destructoid Show:
http://www.destructoid.com/mega-man-legends-3-officially-canceled-206424.phtml For those of you worried that this (along with the cancellation of Mega Man Universe) means that Mega Man is a dead franchise, Capcom saw you coming, and they don't want you to worry. Official word from the company is that "Mega Man is still an important franchise within Capcom's portfolio and we will continue to pursue opportunities to create new titles in the series." They also don't want you thinking that the cancellation of the game has anything to do with Keiji Inafune (ex-Capcom head of R&D and Mega Man co-creator) resigning from his position last year. According to Capcom, "The cancellation of the MML3 project is in no way related to Inafune-san leaving the company." (Jonathan Holmes)
http://www.destructoid.com/sega-finally-announces-wayforward-s-aliens-infestation-206561.phtml The side-scrolling action game, as we already knew, is being developed by the 2D, side-scrolling masters at WayForward. The title has players recruiting and playing as up to 19 different marines and exploring movie set pieces like the Sulaco, the Derelict ship, and LV-426. Sega is calling Infestation a "side-scrolling exploration game" that has an upgrade and collectibles system. This has me crossing my fingers for a Metroid-style action romp - please! (Nick Chester)
http://www.destructoid.com/ea-consoles-now-account-for-40-of-games-industry-206539.phtml Electronic Arts has remarked on the dwindling influence of dedicated games consoles, claiming they now account for 40% of the games industry, while the iPad has become the fastest growing platform. Times are changing, folks! (Jim Sterling)
http://www.destructoid.com/finally-final-fantasy-tactics-psp-is-on-psn-206506.phtml Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSone is one of the greatest strategy games ever made, and also one of the greatest Final Fantasy games ever made. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, the remastered PSP release, also happens to be the best version of that game. And now, years and years later, that version is available in digital form via PSN download, which formally gives PSP owners no excuse to not have this game, or for any current owner of a PlayStation product (or iOS product for that matter) to have not at least tried playing it (the original PSone version is available for PS3 owners). (Josh Tolentino)
http://www.destructoid.com/activision-announces-goldeneye-007-reloaded-for-ps3-360-206541.phtml Activision has officially announced GoldenEye 007: Reloaded for PS3 and Xbox 360. It will take the Wii remake of the classic N64 Game, run it through a brand new engine to deliver HD visuals, and support the PlayStation Move controller. (Jim Sterling)
