Playstation's Next Generation Portal has a name, and it is the Playstation Vita. Let that sink in. E3 is only a couple days away and the onslauht of news continues: we've got confirmation that Catwoman is playable in Arkham City, Aliens Colonial Marines is definitely coming next year, and hey, an exclusive preview of a new side-scrolling War of the Worlds game!
Episode 97 of the Destructoid Show:
http://www.destructoid.com/aliens-colonial-marines-confirmed-for-e3-spring-2012-202557.phtml The Gearbox-developed shooter is now on track for a spring 2012 release, and will rear its head at E3 next week. Colonial Marines has players boarding the abandoned U.S.S. Sulaco as part of the United States Colonial Marines crew. Sega and Gearbox are promising "unspeakable horrors" and "authentic environments," like the surface of LV-426 and Hadley's Hope. Because nothing is more authentic than a moon that's home to parasitic aliens called Xenomorphs. (Nick Chester)
http://www.destructoid.com/google-takes-down-another-android-emulator-maker-202549.phtmlZodTTD, the developer behind a PlayStation emulator for the Android OS, was shut down recently. The software was pulled down off the Android Market. Now another developer follows, possibly pointing to Google's desire to keep things clean and legal on their Market. (Dale North)
http://www.destructoid.com/exclusive-first-look-the-war-of-the-worlds-202521.phtmlA couple days ago, I received an email asking me if I wanted to check out Other Ocean's studios, where they're currently working on a game based on The War of the Worlds. The email noted two very specific things: first, this game has nothing to do with the Tom Cruise movie of the same name, other than being based on the same source material. I'm pretty sure everyone's sick of Tom Cruise these days, so that's good. (Max Scoville)
http://www.destructoid.com/e3-web-site-source-code-seemingly-confirms-ps-vita-name-202556.phtmlFolks have spotted wording and details buried in the HTML source code for Sony's official E3 website that indicate the handheld will be officially dubbed "PS Vita." This corroborates the leaked information, which including alleged marketing materials and anonymous sources. (Nick Chester)
http://www.destructoid.com/meow-catwoman-playable-in-batman-arkham-asylum-202306.phtmlWatching Rocksteady Marketing Manager Dax Ginn demo the studio's upcoming Batman: Arkham City is a sight to behold. He's a bit like a hyperactive youngster, howling things like "Kablammy!" and "KA-POW!" as he works the Dark Knight through a mob of thugs. (Nick Chester)
