On today's show, Max has a bone to pick with the latest Aliens: Colonial Marines developer diary, SW:TOR is going free-to-play, Zynga's stock is plummeting, and Resident Evil 6 lets you play as a ZOMBIE! Also, the Destructoid Live panel has been confirmed for PAX 2012. Better get your hamburger-proof ponchos ready!
Episode 341 of the Destructoid Show:
Developer diaries really make me cringe. They're really just a studio masturbating on camera for a few minutes. It's especially bad with this Aliens: Colonial Marines one, because really the underlying message is, "We met Ridley Scott and you didn't, f*#k you!" (Jim Sterling)
EA and BioWare have just announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will get a free-to-play option this fall. Players will have access to all eight character class storylines up to level 50, with some restrictions. Going beyond this level to access new game content and features can happen through subscriptions and individual purchases. (Dale North)
Farmville creator Zynga is... buggered. After a few years of living large and sucking as much cash as it could from Facebook users, the proudly "evil" company's bottom is well and truly falling out. Share prices have been falling for the past few weeks, today plummeting to a new low of $2.95. (Jim Sterling)
A new mode for Resident Evil 6 turns the tables, letting players, as zombies, come after the good guys. The Agent Hunt Mode lets you create the horror for someone else to survive in, letting you play as a zombie that goes after the main characters. (Dale North)
For the third year in a row, Destructoid will be shouting and swearing in the Unicorn Theater as Destructoid Live III comes to PAX Prime. On Friday, August 31st at 12:30pm, you can join your humble narrator Jim Sterling, editor-in-chief Dale North, communications director Hamza Aziz, news editor Conrad Zimmerman, PC editor Jordan Devore and features editor Chad Concelmo as we bring you the greatest secret of all time -- how to run a successful indie gaming blog with only seven threats of legal action and nineteen deaths! (Jim Sterling)
