Max is back in the studio today with a mouthful of holes and a handful of news, including a trailer for the Manos: The Hands of Fate iOS game, screenshots of the new zombie survival MMO The War Z, and rumors of a Season Pass for Assassin's Creed III. Also, Nintendo is now offering digital downloads of their retail titles, and Diablo III is creating invincible WIZARDS!
Episode 337 of the Destructoid Show:
Following the recent success of Day Z, we will now inevitably see many "me too" games being announced in the coming months. This one, however, appears to be a huge coincidence. Start-up indie studio Hammerpoint Interactive has officially announced their take on the zombie survival MMO will move into Beta very soon with a full release this fall. (Brett Zeidler)
The latest Diablo III outrage has arrived, this time revolving around a new exploit that allows players to create invincible Wizards in Hardcore Mode. While chumps playing other classes have to worry about losing their characters permanently, ensorceled exploiters are nabbing bundles of loot with no fear. (Jim Sterling)
Manos: The Hands of Fate for iOS (and hopefully Android and XBLA) looks like your average, forgettable, "retro inspired" 2D platformer, with gold coind collecting, disappearing platforms, constant attacks from random monsters and giant, crane-necked bosses. There is even a shoot'em up stage complete with biplanes. Absolutely nothing about the game looks original... except Torgo. (Jonathan Holmes)
It appears as if the dawn of full downloadable Nintendo games is upon us, as Japan has just started selling 3DS digital download cards. Among the first titles are New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Demon Training, and the first retailer to offer them is 7-Eleven, who is putting them out today. (Chris Carter)
