Happy Pre-PAX Wednesday, everyone! On today's show, we've got new DLC for Skyrim, care packages for Black Ops II, and a GameStop-exclusive pre-order bonus for Borderlands 2. Also on today's menu is a first look at Twisted Pixel's LocoCycle, along with some impressions on Guild Wars 2!
Episode 353 of the Destructoid Show:
Guild Wars 2 is an MMO for people who both love and hate MMOs. Outside of living a fulfilling life entirely as a crafter (à la Ultima Online), you can pretty much find solace in anything you can imagine an RPG would provide. (Chris Carter)
Next week, in defiance of all reasonable expectation, Bethesda will be releasing yet another massive content package for Skyrim. The Hearthfire DLC enables the player to purchase land, build their own house on it and equip that house with all manner of useful rooms and children. (Conrad Zimmerman)
There sure is a lot going on with pre-order bonuses for Borderlands 2. GameStop has the exclusive on an arena called the "Creature Slaughter Dome," which I must say is an accurate name. There doesn't seem to be much to it other than shooting the various creatures that inhabit Pandora, though you are able to bring experience and loot, including Moxxi's Rocket Launcher, back into the core game. (Jordan Devore)
Activision has revealed the obligatory collector's editions for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Yet again they come in Hardened and Prestige (now called Care Package) flavors, with the latter proving more extravagant than the former. For instance, Care Package gets a remote-controlled air drone this time. (Jim Sterling)
In Twisted Pixel's new game LocoCycle, you play as a sentient motorcycle named I.R.I.S. Very little about the title has been discussed so far, but the title will get its public debut at PAX Prime 2012 later this week. For now, we've got gameplay footage and a second video which shows the game's voice cast. (Jordan Devore)
