http://www.destructoid.com/ces-valve-investing-in-xi3-for-living-room-pc-hardware-241958.phtml Valve's Gabe Newell had previously gone on the record to share the company's interest in the living-room PC market, and CES 2013 seems like as good of time as any to show off. In a press release, Xi3Corporation announced that it has "a development stage system optimized for computer gameplay on large high-definition television monitors" which is being shown at its booth as well as Valve's. http://www.destructoid.com/ces-don-t-call-it-a-steam-box--241971.phtml Yes, Valve is in cahoots with Xi3 Corporation, and there's something neat on the horizon, just as we heard earlier today. But the new tiny box form factor computers debuted at CES this week are not necessarily the long-rumored Steam Box. That's something that's just a bit farther down the road, unfortunately. http://www.destructoid.com/valve-s-steam-box-will-use-linux-debuting-this-year-241885.phtml Valve's electronics engineer Ben Krasnow reportedly gave a talk at the EHSM 2012 conference in Berlin recently where he gave out new details on Valve's Steam Box. According to German tech site Golem.de, Ben told the audience that Steam Box will run on Linux. Not surprising given Gabe Newell's stance on Windows 8, and Valve's foray with Linux recently. http://www.destructoid.com/ces-nvidia-announces-project-shield-gaming-handheld-241911.phtml Nvidia has today announced a new handheld gaming device -- Project SHIELD. Powered by the company's Tegra 4 processor, SHIELD can run Android games and stream PC titles from a Steam game library -- provided the PC in question boasts a GeForce GTX. (Jim Sterling)
http://www.destructoid.com/nvidia-shows-off-its-cloud-gaming-hardware-grid-241924.phtml In addition to Nvidia's Project SHIELD handheld, the company has shared further details on its cloud gaming initiative. While they aren't releasing a product that consumers will be able to directly use themselves, Nvidia's GRID system promises to improve the experience of playing games streamed over the Internet. http://www.destructoid.com/developer-gives-a-status-update-on-dayz-standalone-241928.phtml While DayZ creator Dean Hall originally wanted to get the standalone release out before the end of 2012, that clearly hasn't happened. Citing the ambitious nature of "redeveloping the engine and making the game the way we all dreamed it could be," he writes that a closed beta test will be ready soon for 500-1000 people to help test the new architecture. Once finished and the obligatory fixes have been made, there will be a new internal date for public launch. (Jordan Devore)
http://www.destructoid.com/lego-marvel-super-heroes-announced-for-this-fall-241990.phtml Mixing LEGOs, videogames, and comics together has always seemed like a good idea -- certainly something I would have loved to see as a kid. TT Games is pressing on with yet another title, and this time it's LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U, DS, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita this fall. (Jordan Devore)
http://www.destructoid.com/pokemon-x-and-pokemon-y-announced-for-3ds-241977.phtml Nintendo has today announced an all-new duo of Pokemon games for the 3DS, and they've run out of colors! Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will serve as the next installment, and it will have a worldwide release in October. (Jim Sterling)
