Today's show is PACKED with leaked info on Watch Dogs and Destiny, along with TOP-SECRET photos of the new PS4 controller, and a breakdown of this week's Nintendo Direct. We've also got MORE CONTROVERSY surrounding Aliens: Colonial Marines, a delay for The Last of Us, and Fuse is ditching competitive multiplayer in favor of co-op!
Episode 417 of the Destructoid Show:
May 7 already seemed like a far-off point in time for us to be playing The Last of Us, but thanks to a delay, it'll now be even harder to picture the upcoming Naughty Dog game in our homes. The studio has confirmed to GameSpot that the release date has been changed to June 14, 2013. (Jordan Devore)
Remember when we told you of rumblings on the next PlayStation system's controller and how it might have a touchscreen? Well, get a look at this strange thing. This image looks like a PlayStation-style controller plugged into something that looks like a development kit. (Dale North)
Aliens: Colonial Marines has turned out to be more than just a bad game. It's a confusing story of allegations, outsourcing, and potential deception on a considerable level. The biggest mystery to come out of this debacle is the question of who actually made the game. Nobody's entirely sure. (Jim Sterling)
In the fallout of the Aliens: Colonial Marines controversy, fact and fiction are difficult to separate. SEGA has, at least, put paid to one of the not-so-true suggestions, denying rumors that the Wii U version has been "postponed indefinitely," and more likely scrapped. (Jim Sterling)
Kotaku has a picture of what they say is a leaked poster for Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, the 'next-gen' game that had everyone talking at E3 last year. The marketing materials say that this game will be out this Holiday, and will be available for all home consoles. (Dale North)
With Bungie's reveal of Destiny scheduled for Sunday, the wait is almost over. In the meantime, however, Destructoid has received a photograph of some Best Buy promotional materials including a pre-order card and a flier which has some details about the first-person shooter. (Jordan Devore)
Once again, Nintendo held a streaming event that gave us a little more insight into the world of the Big N. Although there wasn't really any new Wii U news, and there was a distinct lack of third party involvement, we got loads of new 3DS info. (Chris Carter)
Contrary to popular belief, competitive multiplayer is not required for every shooter that releases these days. ... Insomniac Games is one of the few developers that believes this notion, and thus, chose not to include any sort of versus multiplayer with their upcoming co-operative shooter, Fuse. Instead, the developer placed its efforts into creating more co-operative goodness. (Keith Swiader)
