Operation Rainfall: mission accomplished. Plus, we've got news on the release of Skyrim's creation kit mod tools, a tease/troll of Half-Life 3, and Minecraft's new lead developer. Plus, a nice big EA WTF! This is episode 238 of the Destructoid Show.
So, a developer of Monday Night Combat went to a dev event, and saw a guy who works at Valve wearing a shirt. A Half-Life 3 shirt. WTF.
Nintendo of America finally did it! After earlier rumors and teasing, it has finally been announced that the looooong awaited roleplaying game, Xenoblade will be coming to North American Wiis in April 2012. It'll go by its European name, Xenoblade Chronicles. (Jim Sterling)
Electronic Arts has released a new version of Tetris for iOS that comes with an optional "T-Club" membership. The membership costs $29.99 per year and will include additional in-game content and faster leveling up for your profile. In addition to such pedestrian goods, subscribers will also earn discounts on future downloadable content. (Jim Sterling)
It's a move that seemed destined to happen eventually. Minecraft lead developer Markus Persson has, for many of us, become the face behind the absurdly successful game. But it's time to transition into a new position at Mojang. "Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer," writes Persson on his blog. (Jordan Devore)
This great news for modders is also beneficial to mod users: going a step further, Skyrim's Creation Kit will work alongside Steam Workshop, which is currently being used by the Team Fortress 2 community. Once a mod is in the Workshop, viewers can "browse, rate, and flag" it for download and installation. Yup. (Jordan Devore)
The guys at Bioware took a little break to show off some of the new combat enhancements in Mass Effect 3, including improved melee and new class abilities.
Want a pair of one of the best gaming headsets in the world? Of course you do. We've teamed up with Astro to give away a pair of A40s, and all you need to do is play Saints Row: The Third. We're breaking the contest up into two weeks. We've already announced the winner for week one. And for the second week, your challenge is to make a video of your best explosion in Saints Row: The Third (with your character wearing A40s in-game), and upload it as a video response to this episode on YouTube. The deadline is Sunday at midnight, so you've got just under a week! Good luck.
