HAPPY GTA V WEDNESDAY! Today we've got Rockstar's new much-anticipated GTA V trailer to gush over, along with a review of Black Ops II, demos for DmC: Devil May Cry and NFS: Most Wanted, and a release date for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm! Also, a witch got into the manufacturing plant and turned a bunch of copies of Black Ops II into Mass Effect 2. Huge disappointment, or blessing in disguise? YOU BE THE JUDGE!
Episode 389 of the Destructoid Show:
Call of Duty has become the ultimate "no-win" situation for reviewers. What once may have been the biggest job of the game critic's year is now an annual exercise in being caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea. Love it or hate it, the outcome is never going to be pretty. (Jim Sterling)
Excited warmongers looking forward to playing Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PC risk disappointment, if dejected reports on the Internet are any indication. Some copies of the game have had their second installation discs replaced with Mass Effect 2. (Jim Sterling)
A funny thing happened today as a number of reports started surfacing from people who had purchased the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, only to discover the second installation disc missing and a copy of Mass Effect 2 in its place. But BioWare seemingly didn't want to let an evangelistic opportunity like this go to waste and they've come up with a curious offer for any afflicted buyers. (Conrad Zimmerman)
It seems as if a demo is finally at hand for the extremely controversial Ninja Theory-developed DmC: Devil May Cry. You'll be able to download a trial version on November 20th in Europe and North America (for 360; PS3 is a day later), and the 21st in Japan. (Chris Carter)
Kerrigan is back, baby! Come this March 13th, you'll be able to rip apart your enemies and spread the swarm: StarCraft II: Heart of Swarm finally has a release date. This kinda-sorta expansion comes with an all new Zerg single player campaign, new mechanics like race leveling, and new units. (Chris Carter)
Rockstar has just released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, introducing its three protagonists, Michael, Trevor and Franklin. It's flashy, exciting and humorous, and shows some of the personal issues each character is dealing with. I'm particularly taken with Michael's idiot son, who I hope will be the cause of immense frustration when it comes time to interact with him. (Conrad Zimmerman)
