The Last of Us will scare you shitless! In other less obvious news, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has officially been announced, the OUYA will start shipping retail copies this June, and we've got our first look at the DayZ standalone! Lastly, Dead Space 3 is out today and we've got a review!
Episode 414 of the Destructoid Show:
Dead Space 3 could have been the best entry in the series, and in many ways, it still does provide some of the franchise's most energetic, thrilling, entertaining moments. The changes thrown into the game inevitably damage its charm, though, and make this a step down from its predecessors. (Jim Sterling)
Our Dead Space 3 review hasn't even had time to cool down yet, but Visceral Games has announced its seemingly obligatory downloadable expansion. Dead Space 3: Awakened is slated for a March release, Visceral's confirmed this morning. (Jim Sterling)
The new issue of Game Informer has apparently gone out to digital subscribers, and on its cover is a brand new game: The Witcher 3. The folks at NeoGAF have uploaded the cover art in full as well as the first details on this seemingly next-gen, open-world title. (Jordan Devore)
Last night, we got a sliver of information about The Witcher 3 by way of a Game Informer cover. While that issue is available digitally and has a 14-page cover story on the new role-playing game, non-subscribers can also get a sense of what's to come thanks to an official announcement from CD Projekt RED. (Jordan Devore)
The OUYA console will start arriving at the homes of its Kickstarter backers in March, but you'll be seeing them in your local shops a scant few months later. An interview with OUYA CEO Julie Uhrman published on the WSJ.com blogs is centered around an announcement that retailers including Amazon, GameStop, Target and Best Buy will be stocking the hardware on their shelves by June. (Conrad Zimmerman)
A new video of the DayZ standalone game has been posted today, courtesy of a developer blog you can check out here. The video shows off the basics of the new clothing options, loot spawn mechanics, new areas, and the developers' great sense of humor and accents. (Patrick Hancock)
Everything we've seen of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us up until now has featured humans as enemies. Really mean, crazed, do-anything-to-survive type humans. In everything we've seen it was like the entire starving, crazy, post-pandemic world was up against lead duo Joel and Ellie, and that was plenty scary on its own. But with the reveal of a new type of enemy that is not fully human, Naughty Dog has turned up the thrills and tension to a new pit-sweaty level of scary (Dale North)
