Part skateboard, part Segway, part tank, the DTV Shredder ($TBA) is one of the craziest contraptions we've seen this year. It features a normal skateboard deck and trucks, which are mounted to a powerful motor, and two tank threads - mounted below and to the sides of the deck - capable of going over snow, sand, dirt, ice, and nearly any other non-paved surface you can think of at speeds of up to 30 mph, or plenty fast enough to give you some gnarly injuries should you happen to shred a bit too hard.
While discussing the art for last week's OKCupid post on the preferences of different races, guest artist, Chris "Powerpig" McVeigh dropped an astonishing fact: "Almost all non-white faces in Lego are scowling." Easy now: It's not Lego's fault. "The yellow-headed minifigure was a conscious choice," says Michael McNally, Lego's brand relations manager. "Because of their ethnically neutral skin color, Lego people can be any people-in any story, at any time."
Some pets are lazy and more often than not cats can be...but have you ever seen a cat that did not care as much as this guy? I think we all might be about to learn a little something from the seemingly idleness of this purring pretty. I look at it more as a mediative state, a serenity if you will...a calmness. He is so "at one" with his surroundings that he just really does not give a damn. He is okay with eggplants being balanced on his head, and I think that's something we could all strive for.
Don't panic, kid. Your dad is the kind of guy who owns an AK-47. That means he'll probably be very understanding about the destruction, and you'll be able to sit down and discuss this like adults.
ArcAttack is performing a Tesla Coil version of Iron Man by Black? Sabbath. The Guitar Player is using an iron guitar in a faraday cage. ArcAttack testing out the world's first lighting-proof MIDI guitar in their warehouse in Austin, Texas. The MIDI signal from the guitar is routed through a fiber optic cable to control the Tesla coils.

Nokia and AT&T have launched the $10M 2010 Calling All Innovators North America contest, challenging mobile app and game developers to create the next level of apps for consumers in the U.S. and Canada for the new Nokia N8 and Ovi Store. The contest will have two phases and winners will be selected by app performance in the Ovi store and a panel of judges. The Nokia N8 is the first in a new series of Symbian 3 devices that features HD video recording, an HDMI connection for playback on big screen TVs in 720p, Dolby Digital Plus, a 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, and the new Ovi Store app for faster, simpler, and more intuitive access to all of the great content on the Ovi Store. Along with the new device, O/S, and Ovi Store, the new Nokia Qt SDK brings the popular Qt Creator IDE from the desktop and embedded worlds to mobile developers, enabling them to build native apps for Symbian^3 devices like the N8. Developers can submit their apps by January 28th to be involved. The top 250 downloaded free apps and the top 250 purchased apps will each win a Nokia Symbian 3 device. Each category winner receives $150K (USD) in cash, category 2nd place $50K, and category 3rd $25K. Two Grand Prize winners (one app and one game) will win an additional $100K each, bringing the total cash prizes for the two Grand Prize winners (one app, and one game) to a cool $250K. Total cash prizes exceed $4M.
