Nokia and AT&T have launched the $10M 2010 Calling All Innovators North America contest, challenging mobile app and game developers to create the next level of apps for consumers in the U.S. and Canada for the new Nokia N8 and Ovi Store. The contest calls for apps to be developed in each of 11 different categories and cash prizes will be given to 1st through 3rd place of each category. 3rd place in each category gets $50,000 - that means at least 33 winners will get a minimum of $50,000 - cause 1st place in each category gets $250,000 and potentially even a $1 million dollar marketing campaign for their app. You're an app developer, you gotta get in on this contest. As you may or may not know, one of the scarest resources in the world is water. It is an essential natural resource, and yet contaminated water is the cause of 80% of diseases, it kills more people per year than war, and nearly a billion people - one in 8 - don't have access to clean water. charity: water has figured out some really cool ways to leverage technology for the cause utilizing social media for good to help raise money and build wells.
