Hosted by Ryan Connolly. New episodes Mondays & Thursdays
JOIN THE REVOLUTION From Triune Films and writer/director Ryan Connolly comes Film Riot, a hybrid of sketch comedy, tutorial, reality TV and a whole lot of nonsense, with the ultimate goal of teaching the art of independent filmmaking. Whether it's low budget effects or how to create a film from... Read More
This episode covers everything from Simple in camera effects to intense After Effects techniques. Oh... And Brian Brushwood...
Do you need a professional website, blog, or portfolio; and don’t have the cash or know-how to get it done? Well then… Squarespace is the answer to your prayers! Check out their amazingly easy to use interface at: squarespace.com.
I bet Tim and Josh are going to regret making fun of Brian Brushwood now.
This new scene covers three requests sent in through email.
First... setting someone on fire! This isn’t as hard a task as you might think; all you need are the right assets. I used the fire assets from videocopilot.net’s Action Essentials 2. Once you get the assets, it's all down hill from there. I would definitely suggest a few tests before you shoot your full scene, just so you know what you are getting into.
For the soul sucking effect, you'll need some knowledge of After Effects. Of course, this isn’t to say that if you don’t, you can’t do it! Remember, everything done on the show can translate in different ways to other programs. The idea is to think outside the box and find ways to get it done.
Ryan shows how to pull Josh's soul with After Effects. This effect is new to him, so he just wang it.
Once you’re done, check out our Film Riot Twitter for updates on the latest movie news and film making tips.
And if you have an idea for an effect that you’d like to see made into an episode, shoot us an email at FilmRiot@Revision3.com.
