So...Anyone else see this movie this weekend?

I caught it Saturday and there was much I liked but there were weaknesses.

The Good:
- Cinematography: I thought there were some really very beautiful shots in this movie. There is a scene where Alice walks across some sand dunes that is gorgeous. It could have been a very boring shot but the lighting and a wind blowing sand over the dunes gave the landscape life.
- Mila: Alice isn't a very complicated character but I think Mila does a decent job with her. She showed strength without seeming invincible and tenderness without being weak. Bottom-line...Mila WAS Alice.

The Bad:
- Does not stand on its' own: If you haven't seen the other two movies the plot on this one is so weak that you wouldn't know what is going on.
- Story: Even with good knowledge from the first two movies you are left with the question, "What were they trying to accomplish?" This feels like a 'filler' episode.

With that statement I move to a mildly spoilerish topic...

The end leave a very clear path to a forth movie or something else.
I'm leaning more to 'something else'. There is a sense that this could lead to a TV series. Certain things would have to be toned down, unless it was on HBO or Showtime, but it could be done. More of an Alice vs. Umbrella in the post-apocalyptic future. There would of course be other good-guy survivors, etc.

Someone clearly thinks there is more money to be squeezed from this franchise. There was a perfect opportunity to close the story-line and be done with it, but they clearly chose not to. There will definitely be more Resident Evil, even if it's just direct to video.

You know I watched Resident Evil: Apocalypse on cable the other day and after about the 100th zombie they killed by breaking it's neck I started to wonder if you can kill a zombie by breaking it's neck. I always thought you had to destroy the brain somehow.

It's kind of off the topic, sorry, but it just started to make me wonder if they were breaking any zombie rules here.

I always thought of them more like the 28 days later monsters...

I caught it Friday night. I already read a bunch of reviews so I went in not expecting very much, it was mediocre for me.

I wish they didn't leave everything open at the end, some resolution would have been nice.

Despite my wordiness above, your feelings reflect my own.

Shit I would have loved it if they managed to encompass everything in a trilogy. I didn't particularly enjoy any of the films, but they were all watchable, but now it's destined to failure. Many trilogies fail, and it gets exponentially harder to keep up success extending beyond three films.

I would have liked it if it was longer, focused more on the characters (I didn't care about them, so when some of them died it was just bleh.), and finished the series. I think it wasn't that well paced either.

I will probably go check out the movie since I've seen the first two, so I might as well watch the whole thing. It isn't getting many good reviews, but I hope its at least decent (for me).

Resident Evil Extinction: Was nails on a chalk board! I do believe this movie has taken the spot of The Day After Tomorrow as my most painful theater experience ever. It was so bad that I wanted to leave after the first 20 minuets but stuck around because I know that I would want to give it a second chance and would have to watch that first 20 minutes again.

I will go into it a bit here with out spoilers

I wanna disagree that the cinematography was good, it was bad.

The movie really went for style over substance and waisted a bunch of time with scenes that really wern't needed to tell a story.

The editing was horrid, so bad that there were a few scenes that your really could not tell what was going on.

The story was weak, so weak in fact I don't even think there was one.

No character development at all! I didn't care about any of the characters or what they were doing or why the were doing it. Hell even if I did care they really didn't tell you why the were doing what they were doing.

The movie felt like it was on big Cigarette advertisement.

it was good till they got to vegas IMO. Just became sluaghter fest of lameness.
Weak deaths an the zombies looked way to much alike in that area, an the end was just lame...set up for whatever.

I dunno i like Milia an i like resident evil an i love zombies but this movie just wasnt near good imo.
