If you're 18 or older, just go to your DMV and take the permit test. You'll have a headstart for when you take the MSF course.

Well, you go in and take your picture all over again, thumb print, etc. You take the written vehicle test again and you can only miss 3 this time. Then you take the written test for the motorcycle permit. You get 4 tries to pass the motorcycle test. Take a couple days and read the motorcycle handbook, you should be all set.

Once you have your permit, you can ride with the restrictions of not going on the freeway and not riding at night. I then suggest to take the MSF course for 3 reasons:

1) You gain valuable knowledge about riding bikes.
2) You don't have to take the crazy DMV riding test.
3) Your motorcycle insurance goes down because you took a safety course.
