It's hard to say, for music I would have to say Winamp. I give it to VLC because it's a better all round media player.

I went with iTunes. For videos I use QuickTime and DivX, but since DivX isn't an option, and I can watch QuickTime videos in iTunes, that was my pick.

for me, anything video related (in this order):

WMP 11 to be specific though. Alot of eye candy added on this version.

I opted for "other" because i have not really found one i like yet. I'm currently using Winamp, and it works well enough i guess, but its a little too showy for me. I used Media Monkey for a while (a big bonus is that it interfaced with my Creative Zen quite well), but got tired of that too.

Right now though, based on the poll results, i'm checking out VLC Media Player, so who knows, maybe i'll be a changed man by the end of the week ;)

I see what ya mean, I can't seem to stay with one player for longer then acouple months, I don't know if it's just me, or if they all suck in the end lol.

iTunes for Music and pod/netcasts.

VLC and or Quicktime on video (Mac)

WMP for DL.TV

Dixv for torrents.

I use Media Player Classic just because I like it. For music, Foobar 2000 does the trick, as well as Media Player, and for my iPod I use Xplay.

I wish I could do multiple votes, because I use BS player for video, and winamp for audio

hahah, yeah, pretty much. But that did make me think of a question:

Is there a player people would recommend for an extensive music library (about 100 days of music) that is continually growing???

So far everthing i have tried lags pretty hard while browsing / searching...

Yah I was thinking of that, but limited to only 10 choices I had to narrow it down if I could have posted a complete list to vote on I would have gone for multiple votes.

For music/netcasts, I use MediaMonkey because of its convenient auto-tagging feature and album art amazon.com search. For video, I use VLC.

In Windows: WMP11. I used to HATE Windows Media Player... ::Crappy Pun Alert:: ...but version 11 changed my tune.

In Linux: AmaroK. Best player EVER.

AmaroK seriously is an amazing player. The library functionality is astounding.

Amarok is really good but I loathe KDE (Yeah, I can install it under other WMs sometimes that doesnt work out too well >< ).

I like XMMS but use Banshee in Linux usually. It's neat.

Winamp in windows for music and MOST video but VLC for quicktime stuff.

I don't use the amazon.com feature, but i love the auto-tagging feature; even if i'm not using it as my actual media player i tend to keep it installed for organizational purposes

I'm going to have to say iTunes, but only after the fact that I had to properly ID3 at least 80% of my music collection. Also, you gotta love the smart playlists.
