Finished watching it. It was funny, informative, and overall pretty good. Mostly funny, lol. Anyway, although it would be more systm-ish, explaining how you connected the car jack socket to the battery would have been helpful. Not for me since I don't need that info but since you brought it up it would be more helpful to non techies.

Fine first effort. It's what they said it would be. Out of habit I was looking for Robert Heron or Han Choi to show up. I liked the slick graphics, and even the intro music was sort of catchy. Seeing familiar faces together again makes it very comfortable to watch no matter what the subject is. This show has big potential.

Good show.
This definitely is the right element for Patrick (he often seemed slightly out of his element on Systm, e.g. more theoretical discussions and such).

We don't need no stinking badges .. er, I mean TV.
The whole excitement of IPTV is to break the TV mold. Adopting the TV business and distribution models would severely limit the creativity that makes the Rev3 shows kick ass.
I don't know what the numbers are, but I suspect that Diggnation is getting way bigger distribution than Screensavers ever did.

I don't think Paul Greengrass would agree with the first two video tips.
But I guess the tips were meant more for shows like tekzilla, and not movies...
BTW great show, Patrick is awesome as always. Though I have to say that was probably the first time I've heard him say ****, or any other word that can apparently ruin the minds of children and destroy the fabrice of society...

It was more for video submissions and personal recording. It's akin to telling people to use the timer functions on their camera instead of using a mirror (a la Myspace). Professionals wouldn't really need tips.
Nice work. I really enjoyed the new show. I agree that it could be filled out with guest appearances and such, but a solid beginning.

It's a slicker DL.TV and since Pat left DL.tv ..DL.tv has gone downhill...and yes Jessica is a far better co host than Robert and I do like the intro and music....Good show but still think Indigital should not have been canceled.
I look forward to future episodes as the show evolves.

I love the new show. I like the professional hosts, fast pace, and good clean edits. The show moves along quickly.
I don't know if most people will get the sarcastic 80's brick wall with graffiti joke of a background but it was a great show. Just get a straight black background. It looks really good on CrankyGeeks and would make advertisers take the show more seriously.
I really love the show... spray paint the wall black or get a few blankets.

...if she only wants to be. Jessica is very smart, and can be an uber geek. However, she seem to shy away from that and say things like "thats a little too tech for me." I think techzilla needs a weekly segment called "Geekification" where you teach Jessica something geeky so she will never forget it. After a while, she'll be a true techy.

Patrick... did you not realize that your Battery contraption fits the TSA's imaginary design for a bomb?
Wires sticking out? Check.
"Improvised Electronic Device"? Check.
Large brick that may be TNT? Check.
Obscured in some obvious way? Check.
I don't think you'd want to try to take your battery onto a long-haul flight... instead, hope that your plane has power outlets.
Also... I'd like to see a live element to the show... of course, it'll be hard to stream HD through the tubes, so perhaps SD could be streamed live, and then HD available for download a couple of hours later? (ala DL.TV)
Taking the live theme and running with it, why not allow for live viewers to call in on Skype?

Well, I think a lot of people here are drinking the Rev3 koolaid but not me. I thought the show was actually pretty bad. The set was retarded, brick with a graffiti title?? The lighting was also pretty bad. I don't think Jessica said more than two words when Patrick was talking other than, "Right" or "Uh Huh". I can tell you right now that I am biased because I loved InDigital but I can honestly tell you I tried to give this show a shot. But the second Pat said, "**** It!" I was like ok he's already trying too hard.
The show didn't flow well and the reviews and tips just sucked. I prefered Jessica's pre-filmed review over Pat's hands on real time review but they both sucked and lacked some real depth. I did watch the whole show thinking that it would get better but I couldn't find anything that brought me back. Honestly the whole show could've been done all by Patrick. I've really seen better days of Jessica on InDigital.
Also, what is this DL.TV or freakin Tekzilla??? What's up with the gaming guy from DL.TV?? The gaming section just seemed totally out of place. I think that Tekzilla needs to find it's own identity and do something original rather than creating a meld of every show these hosts have been in. Sorry guys but believe it or not your first show sucked the big one...

I must admit, I had high expectations coming to the show as an Indigital and dl.tv fan.
1RST the set sucks big time. Anything would have been better. Both cornered at a brick wall, not what I call viewer friendly. Felt a bit like a prison cell.
2ND Stop trying to play out things so hard. This is not supposed to be a comedy show. You both are normally naturals in front of the camera, but nothing of that showed in that first installment
Hope it will be better next time or it will move down to the bottom of my must see shows.
Cheers

Memtest86 is a great tool alright, one thing Patrick should have mentioned is that many Linux distros include this tool on their install disk. For example, stick in your Ubuntu install disk and the boot menu will have memtest86 on it. There's no need to burn a separate disk for this tool. I believe SystemRescueCD also includes it.
In regards to portable batteries, for those that don't want to mess with a DIY project, I picked up a $50 tool from Costco a while ago that is a portable battery that has a built in car adapter port, a standard a/c wall plugin port, an air compressor, jump start cables, and 5 bright LED's for working in the dark. I've done 4 jumps with it, inflated a few tires and used the LED's several times - so far all on one charge and the meter says the battery is still more than half full! It's a little too big for a backpack, but is great for road trips and remote locations. I haven't tried running my laptop on it yet, but i'm sure it would run for a LONG time on a full charge.
General comments - I kind of liked the brick background on the set, it was nicer than the metal background dl.tv used. DIY stuff is GREAT!

A few sugestions: 1. Go a little more in depth with the projects (ie: show us how you wired up the batt). 2. Work on the show notes a little more. 3. Keep the outtakes at the end, those were hilarious.

Consider pointing out commercially available alternatives when discussing hobby projects. For example, with the battery -- you could have said an equivalent that you can buy all ready-to-go is:
http://www.powerstream.com/BP-23.htm
I would like to have seen an epsiode page / wiki kind of like what Leo Laporte does for his show -- rather than just a forum thread for the episode which, I am betting, will become unwieldly (too much to peruse/navigate) as your show gets more popular.

The show was decent for the first episode. I was a little dissapointed because the promos said "IT'S GOING TO BE BIG!" but instead we got a DL.TV type show (which isn't a bad thing) its just that those promos made it seem like it was the 2nd coming of TSS! :)

I thought the first episode was good to watch, entertaining and reasonably interesting. However, I felt that it lacked some real substance, especially with the battery segment. A quick explanation or diagram of the wiring would have been very helpful, particularly for the non-electronics folks like myself! :) Hopefully in the next few episodes the show will find it's own ground and grow into another great Rev3 show.

I'm new to these podcast/tech shows and really like them.
However I do feel that the content in this was little thin.
Patrick is a great presenter but is he also producing & writing? Basically to get more content in he's going to have to delegate more of his work. He needs a few people gathering tips and reviews that he should then present in his own style.
Jessica is great eye candy and has a wonderful confidence and as a non-techie she should poke holes in obvious flaws that I or other techies wouldn't consider. I found her camera tips segment really pro. but side by side examples would have been cool.
I really love low-tech solutions like the battery bag as it's simple and cheap. I'd like to have seen it in use and some numbers on how long some popular devices lasted on it.
Patrick should lose the biker/gang style handshake and his swearing (unless he hurts himself) as it make him intimidating. E.g. less like a gang member you avoid eye contact with and more like the dude you invite round for a burger n' beer.
Can't wait for episode 2

No way. I understand you may be new to Patrick but personally I was glad to see him be able to swear and be a bit more 'intimidating'. I can't wait for the return of the sledgehammer personally. I've always felt like Pat had to dial it back because of TV standards. Perhaps here at Rev3 he can be more 'punk'. That would kick ass.

Good afternoon.
Just wanted to pipe in with my impressions.
First, it is just plain nice to see Patrick and Jessica together again after all these years.
Second, I did think the set was a bit sparse HOWEVER I am sure this is because the new studios are still being built. I look forward to seeing all of that when it is done.
Third, I am really excited about this idea of viewer generated content for the show. I am already shopping around for a camera. :D
Last, loved the show's graphics and theme music. I can hear a bit of that Ska/Punk feel in the music. Pat's influnce no doubt.
I am glad the show has arrived and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

The show was great, certainly the most well produced videocast on Rev3. I like how it looks more like a TV show, after all, we have plenty of shows that look like crap, such as Diggnation. Don't get me wrong, I like Diggnation but we don't need to all Rev3 shows look like that.
Jessica was a little distracting, she needs to focus more on the topics and stop laughing every ten seconds. The video segment done by her was very good, though.
Patrick was awesome as always.
I will stick with Tekzilla for sure.

I'm very happy to see new shows coming out that are based around technology that are not broadcast on tv. This is a great show and the best thing is that I can watch it when I have time. Very nice show, short and sweet. Some ideas for topics: The future of HD tvs that we know of today and how they are beginign to be out dated http://www******rmationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=202103858
HD vs Blue Ray and should we even worry about it because of Holographic CDs are just a year or so away and from this artical they plan to have a 1.6 TB CD http://www.our-picks.com/archives/2006/11/18/300gb-holographic-cds-will-be-available-this-week/
This might be a little off what you were wanting for topic ideas however they are coming up fast and some people might like to know about them.

this is my first negative nancy post on rev3.. and im sorry, but non the less.... they need to rename this show to SUKzilla. i was so extremely bored watching this! i had much higher hopes for this show. if i ever watch another show, it will be only word of mouth outside of rev3. cause i wont be be back to check on this show again. (in fact im writing this while its playing for the first and only time on my laptop) sorry guys. just didnt hit my demographic... felt way too much like a a drawn out infomercial that talked nothing about "tech" and anything that was "tech" was already talked about long ago or already discussed anywhere and everywhere or is already common knowledge by those who truly are "techies". i recommended this to my grandma.
