Hey all,

I'm thinking of diving into the whole PC gaming scene. I've always been a console gamer and I find myself with a grand to burn, so i figured why not. HP is having a ridiculously good deal on a computer: Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz, 2GB DDR2 Memory, GeForce 7500LE Video, 250GB SATA Hard Drive, LightScribe 16X DVD+/-R/RW, 15-in-1 memory card reader, TV Tuner, and Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer audio card for 650. No rebates or any other strings attached. Pretty good I say. So to this, I'm adding a 8800 gts and a Enermax EG565P-VE FMA 535W Power Supply. I think its a pretty decent gaming rig for less than a grand. What do you guys think? My two concern are that maybe the power supply doesn't have enough power to run everything, and that the whole system might get bottlenecked at the cheap oem motherboard. Any advice would be really helpful! Thanks! It'd be even better if you guys could come up with a better gaming rig for a thousand bucks.

I have some time on my hands, so I priced out a comparable system on newegg.

Most of it is comparable to what you spec'd. RAM and motherboard are much better than OEM.

Hopefully you aren't on dial up. Here's a screen of the cart.

Is the HP worth it? I don't know.

I don't know if they do or not, but hopefully they don't use a proprietary power supply and motherboard. Many OEMs do.
