Patrick did beat up computers before I wonder can he do it again and show Veronica the joys of beating the crap out of dead virus ladened computers (painted red)
Here's the clip from the Screen savers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVQYVwCUf30
Or even better have Adam and Jamie destroy the virus ladened computers their way :D if they can be persuaded to guest host

Dear Tekzilla,
I am an Ubuntu user for the pass few months this year. I love Ubuntu linux cause its free, open source and super super customisable. I wish you guys can give Ubuntu Linux a chance and do a segment about Linux and open source. There are a lot of third world countries like the Philippines who people doesn't have enough budget to get an os bundled with there pcs.
And some of the applications in Ubuntu are familiar to some of the people like inkscape, firefox, dropbox, goolge chrome browser, audacity, even adobe air and skype.
Let's support the open source community by giving them a chance to exist in this world.
I love your show and will support you.

Settop boxes seem to be all about the same, but not many people review this model. One rare feature, it has a built in web browser. If it is not an awful browser then it might tip the balance for me.
Since Herron is "joining" the show, and Patrick mention that RH prefers home theater pc's
What software does Robert run on his HTPC? What are the different options, and trade offs? Any open source?
Still waiting for Patrick's epic DIY NAS review.

Please do a brief segment in your show to highlight any free software available that allows non-programmers to rapidly create applications by piecing together graphical widgets and that requires minimal code writing.

Given the excellent pixel quality in these products and the android being so cheap is there a way for me to use one of these as a field monitor when on a film shoot via dvi or hdmi or even usb ports? Simple solutions are great, and complex hacks too. This would have made a good systm show segment but SOMEONE killed it. ;-D J/k Pat you still rock!

Should Patrick Norton film an episode wearing a kilt? Do you think the the theme song should be changed to "Take On Me" by a-ha? Have an idea for a cool segment or product review? Whatever it may be, feel free to post it here!
Get rid of the new Bluray releases segment that's been transferred over from HD Nation. There's hundreds of sites that do this in a much more efficient, you know, _text format_.
Also I wish you'd summarize or paraphrase people's questions more succinctly. Y'all reading two or three screenfuls of text is not all entertaining or interesting.

Completely disagree , I loved having this segment brought over. I don't wanna have to filter the releases on a bunch of different sites when I can watch one episode of this show and get all the release information I need. Plus you give details on transfer quality and added content (depending on the movie released).
The format for reading has been that way since Tekzilla started , do you really think they will stop doing this? They read because leaving it up on the screen and just talking over it without at least briefing on the question ends up being more confusing than anything.
My personal suggestion have a triple host show once in a while where Pat , Robert and Veronica all get to chime on questions and news. I have a feeling that would be a fun show to watch

totally agree (with your post).
Also suggestion, if patrick or robert have seen the movie being mentioned, perhaps they could have their ratings appear at the bottom? Unsure if you would want the rating to be based on the movie, or the quality of the bluray itself, but yeah, just a suggestion

sorry if the male presenters dont have boobs :( However on knowledge imo theyre pretty balanced. Despite my negative opinions about macs, they have a pretty well balanced show.
The only thing i wish they would do, is post the questions up on the forum before filming, even if it was just 24 hrs. That way they wouldnt have to have many follow up segments / say "well lets ask our viewers for their opinions"

Some of the questions have already been asked on the forum. For example, today's NTFS defragmentation question was asked here (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37959) two weeks ago. It doesn't really matter though because they don't read the forums. Well, Veronica and Serafina do a bit but nothing about content, just whether people like/dislike and maybe some technical issues respectively.
What they do in their spare time (apart from netflix!)
They already talk about this briefly from time to time, and as it's their personal life then however much they want to talk about it is fine but it shouldn't go beyond that. For example, Patrick has talked about visits to the grand canyon and how he used tech while out there, desert racing, wiring his truck, etc. Veronica has talked about things like playing wow in a different room to her partner. I get the feeling Robert just watches TV (the netflix thing you said) and messes about with TV in his spare time. Hardcore geek but it's what he talks about on the show because it's what he likes to do.

ahh my boobs comment was to the sexist member above. was sarcasm
and as it's their personal life then however much they want to talk about it is fine but it shouldn't go beyond that.
yeah, i didnt mean it in a stalkerish way, i mean in terms of gadgets that they actually use that doesnt make it onto the show. Obviously boxes like the boxxee get a good review, but meant things like the household camera etc.
I'm not sure if other people feel the same way, but there seems to be a steady stream of review units etc, but what i think is interesting is what they actually use/have bought for the family.
But yeah, didnt mean it in a freakout stalker way (perhaps it came out like that?))

I am using windows 7 and get four different file system options for my drives FAT, FAT 32, exFAT, and NTFS. Is there any advantage to using the newer exFAT over the older FAT file systems or am I better off making all of my drives NTFS like my hard disk. does exFAT prevent damage to my flash drives or is it another patch to the old DOS filesystem? is there a chance for a windows file system round up?

If you are only using on Windows, you should always use NTFS.
The only reason any FAT file system is still in use is for compatibility on small drives. For example, a 8 GB USB flash drive that you want to be able to use from both Mac and Windows, or a 4 GB SD card that you want your camera to be able to use.
exFAT (or FAT 64) is pretty much the same thing but will let you go over 32GB for a partition and over 4GiB for a single file. In addition, it is only supported in new versions of Windows, only just has support in Mac and Linux and probably no other device (e.g. camera or phone) supports it, so the only time you would probably want to use it at all is if you have a 64 GB+ flash drive that you want to transfer files over 4 GiB between the latest Mac and Windows with.
USB flash drives <= 32 GB are generally still formatted with FAT32 for compatibility, and there is usually nothing wrong with this. You never know when you want to transfer a file to something other than Windows, like display some pictures on your TV. exFAT may become more useful in the future but right now there isn't much of a reason to use it over FAT32 for portable drives, and it will never be a replacement for NTFS as the file system you install Windows on for the hard drive in your computer.

I know, I know. I've mentioned this before but ...
In Episode 181 of Tekzilla during the 2011 CES recap, Patrick mentions having to drive a truckload of gear 9 hours from Las Vegas to San Francisco. Just put Revision3 personnel on the bus and review "road trip" technology. Maybe things that are no longer being sold new. Cameras, communication, GPS, games, laptops, together with mods, etc.

Tunersalad is an app that allows you increase your tuner count in Windows Media Center To 8. i've used it in conjunction with my Ceton Cablecard PCIE Card and it works great. now i can record up to four shows at the same time. When Ceton comes out with their six tuner card, I will be able to do six at a time. No More TIVO Bills! The card allows you to rent just the cablecard from your cable provider and have a HD signal to your PC instead of the downgraded signal using a tuner card.

Hey guys got something I've been fighting with. I've got Divx avi files that I've made to use on my PS3 and WDTV Plus. I've found a way to make art to the files in WDTV but I can't seem to find a good answer to it on the PS3. I want to be able to keep my favorite movies on my PS3 for when I go on vacation. Is there a way to add album art to these files that will work on the PS3? Or is there another format that I can add album art to that will work on both these devices? Currently using DVD Fab to convert my home dvd collection.

I know that opening up a MAC is instant death to your warranty. Lets face it, most of us void our warranty out of pure boredom.
With that, I seen a MAC on my kids TV show on Nickelodeon, it has a group of kids with a web show. The computer they have has a Pear where the Apple was previously located.
My question is, Does anyone currently offer replaceable monitor backs for my macbook pro that I could order a custom Icon or Logo?
Thanks Everyone.

You guys keep emphasizing how important the audio side is to a rich Home Theatre experience, but you never talk about audio equipment.
I recently upgraded to a Samsung 55C8000 HDTV, I have an older Pioneer VSX-D812 which will fill my requirements (HDMI switching not required).
I'm looking at finally upgrading my old Boston Accoustics Stereo speakers to full 5.1 after some room renovations that now deserve the audio to match the video I have.
I'm a bit lost on what to look at as an affordable (~$1000) 5.1 speaker solution.
I have looked at the Paradigm CT110 package, but it's hard to find a dealer.
What do you think? How about some direction on giving me audio to match my HDTV TV finally.

Samsung is making two 22" displays, LTI220MT02 and LTM220MT01, and one 46" display, LTI460AP01, that are transparent, include no backlight or reflective film. All they need to make now is a 17" 1080p version so we can make cheap 1080p projectors with overheads.
I found it on displayalliance.com. I included the post and data sheet links below...

Patrick, for being an English major, you have a real hard time speaking and getting to a point. (That is if you ever make a point) It's painful for me to listen to you.
The only reason I watch, probably like most people, is because of Veronica.
Not only is Veronica beautiful, she knows how to speak and is actually interesting. I can tell by the looks she gives you, that she is getting tired of you too.
In conclusion; put a thought together. Stop going off on a tangent. GET TO THE POINT!!

Because lots of my Ukrainian fellows have a hard time understanding what Patrick Norton said.
We can understand what Veronica or Robert said, but Patrick? he speaks waaay to fast for non-native speakers.
Just like me and my friends.
So, what do you think? Subtitle is good for non-english speakers or for them with hearing problem.
Don't make it too big! Just make them big enough to be readable from a cellphone quality video.

Now I never seen an sight run this website...
It is called Snapfiles... I have known about this site for 8+ years it has served me well for trying freeware that later became shareware and full version program...
I like it for its organization of categories, size of font and screenshots of products...
One of the easiest sites I have ever used.... Straight forward...
This site was once known as Webattack...
There is a program there called CintaNotes
Functions are:
1. highlight text from a website and save it.
2. highlight the link and it will quickly save the link to the notes.
3. Furthermore if you double click the note it will tell you what website you took the tag on.
4. Can change font size and type of font
5. Can export the text as a .txt file
6. Resize window easily also keep window always on top of other applications..
7. Keeps track of Date and time tag was made...
8. Search quickly by date and keywords...

If you give me a email address I can probably give you at least 10 to 200 show ideas 1. for every week. From LED lights to New Discoveries such as a year ago a teenager found that by adding diodes to a solar panel to produce 20% gain in solar energy. He is now getting a degree full ride from Princeton University... These are the kind of questions that should be asked at CES 2010 when they were putting out was to charge your cell phone on a board...
Kinds of questions that would bring a new prospect to the show not just talking about tech types in computers, but informing users of new tech that may be available in the near future...
That may change the way the personnel computer functions in every day life....
Also I don't see on a regular biases a show that caters to the idea of tech advancements...
I think CES does a good job for the computer tech.....
If your tekzilla I figured you would do a little more on a variety of tek products...
How can you refer to your self as Godzilla of tech if you don't cover more then Computers?????
Well I wish you the best of luck... :)

Hello Patrick, Veronica and Robert,
Do you guys have any recommendations for a new podcast aggregator? I currently use Podget to download a couple dozen audio and video podcasts from Revision3, TWIT and the like for later viewing on my Popcorn Hour and syncing with my iPod.
Podget is great - I like it's lightweight design, scheduler and download speed but the developer has all but stopped supporting it. I'd also appreciate something more polished, feature-rich and ideally something I could administer through a browser instead of having to edit text files manually like I now must do with Podget.
I need something that will run as a daemon on my headless, low power mini-ITX Ubuntu server box. This server also does file sharing, music streaming (via Squeezecenter) and remote backup (via Tonido).
Love the show(s).

Don't take this the wrong way but Tekzilla is losing it's focus. I always enjoy Tekzilla but recently HD nation has taken over. If I wanted to watch HD nation I would subscribe to it but I don't. Too much information about TV and not enough about tech. Don't get me wrong I like Robert Heron as a host. He brings an energy that is good but I prefer Veronica and we don't get to see her very much any more. I have taken to skipping over the HD nation sections of the show or leaving my computer while it plays. Like I said it just doesn't interest me. If HD nation continues to expand to most of Tekzilla I'll find a different podcast to watch. Thanks.

Not only is Veronica beautiful, she knows how to speak and is actually interesting. I can tell by the looks she gives you, that she is getting tired of you too.
In conclusion; put a thought together. Stop going off on a tangent. GET TO THE POINT!!
This post applies to all of the shows you do, not just Techzilla.
YES!! YESS!!! TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT!
Maybe they can add subtitle or something, so we can easily understand what Patrick says.

I'm posting because I'm mad as hell would love if you guys could find out whats going on. I also preordered and was told I could not cancel and they still haven't shipped my Iphone 4s. I found two places this weekend near me that had them INSTOCK! I though preorder was suppose to mean it would be shipped on or before release date not whenever they decide to.

I've noticed lately that the video is blown out. Especially noticable on Veronica's face for instance. Pure white patches.

I have just come across to this:
http://www.hughski.com/
This guy is building an open source colorimeter for LCDs, it looks like an interesting project with a reasonable price for the hardware. I have never used a colorimeter, they are way too expensive in Brazil, but maybe I'll give this one a shot.
Keep on the good work!

I would love to see you guys install/test the Tomato firmware replacement for a Linksys WRT54 router. I would love to see what you guys think before messing around with it myself.

Could you please review the Gigabyte S1080 slate? Going by the thinner is better standard, it is a bit of a beef cake. Like my friend once told me, meat is for the man the bone is for the dog! Besides the vintage vga port, it looks it like a well balanced slate. How many slates/tablet have the extra pcie internal slot (if you don't go with sim card option) and usb 3.0? Just think, you can add a tv card or Habey HB-VD920 hd acceleration card!
-Hmm Beefy!

While these may not fit Tekzilla, maybe they could be Rev3 one-offs...
1) What's in Patrick's bug-out bag and zombie kit
2) Necessities for shelter-in-place
3) Range day with Rev3 crew
4) Knob Creek Gun Range bi-annual Military Gun Show and Machine-Gun Shoot

Some folks who watch would soil their pants if they saw Knob Creek. They just don't understand.
