Enjoyed the show... lots of potential.
I was wondering about the Tekzilla "graffiti" on the main set.. is that actually there or is that post-production? forgive my naivety... I saw the bricks in R3G so I'm pretty sure those are real and I was curious if it was even possible to do convincing "green screen" type effects on a set like that.
thanks,

It's a temp set so does it matter?

It is a fake brick wall. I can even tell that.
Although, the logo seemed to move or disappear. Many camera angles were also obvious. My addition to it is this. You know that "1st down" line on TV for the NFL? Can the same technology be used for logos for the same back round but different shows?
Hmm. I should save that and get rich off of it. Eh, Rev, use the idea and just give me a job. I'll be a frickin' janitor, I don't care.

The Tekzilla logo on the back wall is a glass gobo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gobo_%28lighting%29), if memory serves. It's definitely not something added in post production!

Patrick is alive! :)
The only complaint I have is of the tightness of the set, but since it's temporary, I can live with it for a couple of episodes.

The cost of that technology is too high to use just to insert a show name or banner. It could be used to insert an advertisement but I think everyone would whine about that.
Another issue with that type of virtual signage is that they cameras and tripods must be calibrated with the system before you start using it.

Wow, there is something very cool about seeing a post from patrick@revision3.com!
Yeah, virtual signs hardly make sense to use unless you have some pressing incentive to change them often, as bugs WILL happen with them, especially in a more live type fiming format where you can't go back to correct a bad shot for editing. So if they were to have a set at all, virtual signs really don't make sense. Now, it would be cool if they had a virtual set like MacBreak has...Virtual sets are really cool, although they have limitations too, especially for interview shows where you wan't a guest to feel "at home" with your set: hard to do in a bright room with an otherworldly green glow coming from all angles!

Nice set Patrick. *snicker*
Like I said last year, brick is the new black (http://darrenkitchen.vox.com/library/post/brick-is-the-new-black.html) ;-)
No but seriously congrats on the pilot, looking forward to much more!
Cheers,

Does MacBreak add their virtual set live as the show is being taped or is it added when the show is edited? If it is done in post then that system might not work for Revision3 since they do more shows per week. There are some live usage virtual sets but the cost is rather high. A TV station can justify it with the $$ that a daily newscast generates but I don't think even TechTV could have generated the revenue back in their heyday.
