Patrick, have you thought about possibly using portable batteries from APC or other companies? I was thinking of getting one for extra battery time with my laptop when I don't have the option to plug in. These options may not have the same capacity but they're rechargeable and, I would imagine, more cost effective. They're also designed for travel so they're slimmer and easier to fit into a bag. I've only investigated such batteries created specifically for a laptop, but other options might exist that could be re-wired or used with re-wired cable that allows for use with other devices. Of course, voltage or amperes may be a hindrance, but I don't know anything about that. Let me know what you think.
