Let's cross our fingers and hope this continues for this great show...this is straight from Ain't It Cool:

"Ratings in 18-49 for 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday:

4.2 “Pushing Daisies”
2.8 “Deal Or No Deal”
2.5 “‘Til Death”
2.4 “Back To You”
2.4 “Kid Nation”
2.2 “America’s Next Top Model”

“Daisies” powered the whole night for ABC. “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff “Private Practice,” which followed “Daisies,” was down 12% from its premiere but able to beat “Bionic Woman” like a rented mule in 18-49, a reversal of their first match-up last week. “Dirty Sexy Money” retained 100% of its first-week audience despite the dip in its lead-in!"

Could it be... the TRS effect? ;)

Is it sad that I spaced on the time and watched Kid Nation instead?....

This show is great!! When does the 2nd episode go out?

I'm in the UK which = Gotta Download it! I could probably sell my mum and buy an episode or two if they were to put it on iTunes.

It comes on at 8 pm on Wednesdays here in the States, and then via bittorrent soon thereafter.

But please, folks, if you bittorrent this show, make sure to at least go stream it at abc.go.com (even if you just leave your computer and let it run). Until ABC adds it to iTunes, this is the only way they'll know peeps are watching if you're using BT (CBS has said they watch the streams on CBS.com to see how many people download, so it makes sense ABC would too). If you're overseas, you'll have to use a proxy, i think, to stream on abc.go.com.

Let's keep this awesome show on the air!!

I just finally got to watch the first episode and WOW, I love it. It is so clever, and the narrator just makes the whole episode flow like prose. Thank you Jeff for speaking so passionately about this show otherwise, it probably would have fallen off my radar, and it would be a shame to miss it :D

The only BS is that they filter out Linux OS (pure BS). I'll get around it later but I am fully supporting this show.

Torrent'd it and watched it with the girlfriend two nights ago and definitely enjoyed it....BUT I gotta say I think after watching TRS my expectations were a little built up. It's heads and tails above most other things on television but that's not really saying much is it? It was creative, interesting, and unique. But I just didn't like any of the characters. The problem for me was that the dialogue was just too cute and clever. Everyone sounded like cartoons to me instead of real people and that drained a lot of the humanity and life from the show until it felt like I was just watching an skillful exercise in production.

Amelie, which the guys compared it to repeatedly during the show, had twice the showy-ness/cleverness/arty stuff in it, and yet I cared so much more for those characters than for the Daisies. All the characters in Amelie felt like they could be real people to me. The most amazing moment in Amelie had not snappy dialogue, no quick cuts, no clever montage's or any of that. It was the ***SPOILER ALERT*** moment when they kissed. There was no music, dialogue, or anything. and I remember it because a soldout house of 200+ was so silent you could hear people breathing. It was amazing and ***END SPOILER*** there was not of that humanity in Daisies. Just clever dialogue and pretty moments.

I'll definitely keep watching but in my hierarchy of favorite shows this ones a little down the list.

That's actually what I like about it. It embraces the fairy tale aspect of it. I actually have a connection to the characters but I have to check out this Amelie.

Amazing movie. Top 5 most certainly. It was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet who did City of Lost Children and (strangely enough) Alien:Resurrection. Resurrection was a disaster from a fanboy perspective (the fearsome terrifying Queen from the second movie grows a vagina? Wait...WHAT?) but script aside you could definitely see his touches on it.

He's also the one who is currently slated to direct Life of Pi (which would be amazing.)

As for Daisies, I suppose if I had been more expecting the storybook qualities more in the vein of the Princess Bride (which to me it was closer) rather than Amelie I might have enjoyed it more. As I said, expectation was everything for me on this one. May have to watch it again with a fresh perspective.

As much as I'd like to credit TRS for the success I have to say that Pushing Daisies had a pretty strong marketing campaign. It's nice to see ABC really putting its weight behind a quality show.

Then again, I remember Firefly having a pretty good marketing campaign too...

Loved the show by the way, I'm not huge on Barry Sonnenfeld and I only kind of liked Dead Like Me but this just clicked with me.

Interesting, whatisyourdrive, because my reaction to the characters was the polar opposite of yours! :)

To each his own - we are all entitled to our own opinions for sure. I probably was instantly drawn to it because of my love for Tim Burton, which the quirkiness of this show reminded me of (just not quite as dark as Burton, of course).

Jeff, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. This show is so great! Seriously, I cannot get over how good this is. The atmosphere is great. They really could have made this cheesy or something but this might get all "Lost" on us. Seriously. I can't wait to see them make this show better and better. Excellent first episode.

And, a little montage of what I think was the best and smartest part of the show.

I use it at work, but I'm not sure if this is a US-based proxy or not...

ok nevermind that didn't work...I just googled around and found this interesting article tho:

How to watch ABC Streams Outside the US (http://www.ghacks.net/2006/05/01/howto-watch-abc-tv-streams-outside-the-usa/)

Sounds a tiny bit complex, but could be worth it...

This show smacks of 2 things.

1. it is based on bringing back someone by touching them and then these people dying shortly after... exactly like the pilot of Torchwood.

2. The stories Whimsical side seems heavily based on the recent movie The Waitress down to the part about being a pie maker... I mean how could they lift such an obvious plot device.

yes I like the show, but someone should at least acknowledge where it's roots are from.

BEST SHOW EVAR!! ..well, it was at least ONE of the best shows in such a long list of great shows this season, for me. I'm so glad you guys reviewed Pushing Daisies as I can easily see it becoming one of my favorites. The style and the story is clever, and the narration is awesome. I kind of get the whole Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy vibe, which I love, but that may just be me. Anyways, my thanks goes out to the TRS crew for getting me hooked on to another a great show. I hope they can keep it up.

I had to watch the pilot online because I forgot about it. That said, it was decent. It's hard to judge how the series will be based on the pilot though. It was built almost like an open ended movie and had that same feeling. I just had the vibe that it's not going to last even though the characters and concept are great. Sorry if that's disappointing. I hope I'm wrong.

I loved it. I'm gone on Wednesdays so I watched the pilot online (no dvr). It reminds me more of Big Fish and Lemony Snicket's than Amelie (aside from the narrator).

ABC has picked up fantasy dramedy "Pushing Daisies" for a full season. The back-nine order brings the total order to the Warner Bros. TV-produced freshman series to 22 episodes.

In its first three airings, "Daisies" has been a solid ratings performer, winning its Wednesday 8 p.m. hour in the adults 18-49 demographic. It also earned the strongest reviews of any new series this year.

"Daisies" is the second freshman ABC series to receive a full-season pickup following the order last week for "Daisies'" lead-out on Wednesday, medical drama "Private Practice."

Good news for all Daisies fans

Awesome. I had no doubt it would perform well but lets hope it performs as well as it needs to finish correctly (I don't want it to drag on but if the series needs more seasons I want it to get them).

I'm so glad that you guys talked about Pushing Daisies it was totally off my Catdar. And had it not been for you guys I wouldn't even know it was on...ABC had completely fallen out of my Watching rotation. But it has now stollen a slot in my DVR from Kid Nation (just too uneventful for my taste).

Thanks again guys you are totally rad! :D

Having watched four episodes of the show now, I have to say it's boring me. It was cute to start with and I love all the cleavage in the show, but the style is already wearing on me and nothing much really happens.

I can understand that but it doesn't bother me or take away from my enjoyment. Although I will tire of the style eventually (it's that type of style after all) I don't see that happening for a while.

You make me frown!

Awww.

It's ok though - I can see how it might get tired for some, though I'm still loving it and always have a great feeling leftover at the end of each show. I hesitate to call it a sense of wonder because that sounds cheesy but that's totally what it is. :)

I am not a fan of cheese and over-the-top goosh, like this show plainly is, but for some reason I really really like this show. The Real Big Fish reference is interesting to me, b/c I can't even get halfway through that movie before I want to shoot myself from cheese overload. And again, this is different and better to me than that movie ever was. It has the same visual style and aloof silliness, but it's far smarter and I love it.

And is anyone else falling in love with Charlotte. I have to be honest, I didn't think she was all that attractive in the beginning, but her bubbliness and pure cuteness has totally won me over and now I want a Charlotte for myself.
