Anyone getting TV shows via RSS in bittorrent? If so, care to show an example/guide on how this works?

You would probably use Miro. For example, the Bittorrent RSS links for R3. Add it to Miro (a channel) and it uses bittorrent to get the episode. That's the only player that comes to my mind that handles Bittorrent.

I use uTorrent's RSS feed functionality to download TRS (not Diggnation). The main problem I see with this method is the way the Revision 3 torrent feeds work.

They don't clean their lists as they go; they have every episode on the list. If you can live with a giant history-list of what episodes the client has downloaded before it works just fine. It's either having a big history list or having a lot of space taken up on your HD. (Other feeds don't subject you to this problem, as they remove items on the list after a fixed amount of time.)

There is a tutorial for adding and managing feeds in uTorrent HERE. (http://www.utorrent.com/rsstutorial.php)

General knowledge of how the client works is preferred, and as always just having patience and easily understanding interfaces is your best bet.

Important note: More often than not, when the client auto-downloads TRS for me (a maximum of 15 minutes after the show has been added to the feed) it doesn't even work for a whole mess of hours anyway. I find myself downloading from the HTTP source when I am active at my computer, and just downloading from the torrent feed to be able to distribute it in case stuff works later.

More of a preference since I like being able to see the entire history since episode 1. It's not like it downloads them all. I have to agree that the torrent doesn't pick up right away (main reason I stopped using it since Miro handles the HTTP RSS feeds and I'm usually online when a show comes out).

I ust tvrss.org and utorrent and did up a nice guide on my blog:
http://conedude13.blogspot.com/2007/01/howto-rss-feed.html

It helped out a lot of my buds that were starting out with torrents and this method combined with the utorrent scheduler is a great way to automatically d/l torrents as soon as they are available. Enjoy!

I use eztv (www.eztvefnet.org) and utorrent (www.utorrent.com) and there is a great tutorial on how to set it up on google docs: tutorial (http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgsf923m_2d6k97n)

No, the thing is this:

With all the other feeds you _can_ save your whole history if you'd like, but it's not required in order to stop the client from auto-downloading episodes you have already downloaded before.

uTorrent has 2 checks for downloading stuff on your favorites-list from feeds:
1. Is there a match for your favorite in the feed?
2. Do you already have this file downloaded and in your torrents-list?

What happens with feeds that just appends new releases to their feeds is that there will always be matches for your favorite-entries, so you continue past 1, to 2, and if you've already watched the episode and deleted it from your torrent-list it adds it again.

With feeds that regularly remove items from their feeds this problem doesn't exist, beyond that you have to maybe keep your downloaded stuff for a few hours if you're early on watching it.

Why is a mod asking how to pirate stuff? I thought we couldnt discuss illegal activity on Revision3? If a mod can ask where to steal TV shows, why cant we ask where to DL Diggnation early?

He isnt asking where to steal them from. See he bought them from iTunes and since they are DRM he cant play them on his zune. He is just replacing the DRM legally acquired videos with un-protected ones. No harm no foul.

Right Sam ?

Correctamundo - I wish they were like Revision3, where I can get everything for any format I want.
