50th Anniversary of Space Exploration. Tang is not for cleaning dishwashers. Network Music Players: The $2000 Transport plus two options that won't break the bank. Sputnik and Science Education. Airfoil makes the Airport Express run audio from anywhere.

Better ep then the first, I really liked the segment with patrick at the museum. If they had one more segment like that in the show, it could be close to an hour. They also address the issue of they crappy set, I wasnt a fan of the 10 minute webdrifter commercial.

Great show! I also enjoyed the Exploratorium segment and I also like the review portion of the show. I'm gonna go check out Airfoil in more detail.

One improvement that should be able to be made fairly easily is to have Pat read from a script the pros and cons of the product he is reviewing. Its a bit difficult to read the pros and cons when they are both different to what Pat is currently talking about and going by pretty quickly. So I say slow them down and have Pat read them off of a script so that everything is all synced up.

I'm back, can you tell i'm watching this and commenting on it at the same time?

I didn't really like the Sarge interview, something about rev3 showing off other rev3 shows on rev3 shows that didn't seem right. But if you do just interview people on the show, read: make it a regular segment, then i might be more interested in it if you interview people outside of the rev3 umbrella.

I do like them drinking on the show. There is just something about drinking on podcasts that is pretty cool (diggnation is awesome). More Spacedrivers!

Patrick was drinking just tang. Reminds me of that annoying Bob and Tom show song.

How did they read my mind on giving us a backup reminder every month! ......browsing new seagate drives on newegg.....

This is the last episode i shall be watching, what does sputnik satellite and space exploration have to do with a computer/gadget show, were you looking for something to fill in for the lack of anything worth watching for?

Everything about Tekzilla just screams G4TV and i had enough of that back when TSS was cancelled.

Hmmm, you don't think satellites and space exploration fall into the "technology" category? Tech isn't just PCs and gadgets. Personally, I love being reminded about historical events and their impact on how we live our lives today. Though we did also cover gadgets and software in this show.

I'm curious...what about this show screams G4 to you?

I hate G4 and other than the silly name and logo this show is NOTHING like on G4 ...it's more like Tech tv content...and the space thing is VERY related to tech..in fact I remember Leo on TSS visiting John Glen at Nasa and that was awesome...the museum interview was great and VERY glad to hear that brickwall is a temp thing...it's worse than DL.tv's shiny metal walls.

Great episode.

Concurred. Very boring show so far, IMHO. I got the feeling I normally associate with flipping through the drivel on TV.

This is definitely a step forward from Ep1. The show seemed quite a bit more organized this time around. And the Exploratorium tour segment was great: I've always wanted to go there!
If you are ever in the Chicago area, you should ask the guys at the Fermi National Accelerator lab to let you do a segment there. They have great tours and love publicity as they are constantly getting screwed by congress with funding. Fermi Lab is sort of like the exploratorium "for reals".
Come on guys, computers, software, and gadgets are but a small sector of technology. You are really missing out on some of the neatest tech there is if you want to restrict yourself to just that!

A definite improvement over the first episode, however it's still no InDigital.

Good stuff:

* Going out and interviewing people

Bad stuff:

* 5 minute ad for another Rev3 show
* Annoying ads between segments
* Patrick doing stupid voices
* Showing stills to illustrate every last word. I know what a cat looks like already, FFS!
* Jessica still gives me the creeps.

Although temporary they've improved on the positioning of the set.
I like the interview segment, the product review was okay, seemed a bit short, wish they could find more to talk about, perhaps show off some cool software next time!

I don't comment very often, I really only do it when I am compelled to do so...

So let me just say this show is really great, shows strong promise, and enjoyed both Episode 1 and 2.

I have followed Patrick since his first episode on The Screen Savers, watched almost every episode of DL.TV, etc.. I think this show is going to let Patrick take his game up to the next notch, give him the breathing room he needs.

I also have really enjoyed Jessica, and the balance she can bring to a show, it was great that she asked Patrick what a DAC was. Keep it up!

Already look forward to this show weekly, and can't wait for it to keep getting better. For all the haters out there, if you think you can do better, go do it. Want different content on this show? Submit your video like they asked in episode 1, or shut up and enjoy the free lunch.

Good show.

I would say this. There was a lot of audio stuff, so if your not into audio that week or something it kinda blew the whole show. Honestly, while i enjoy audio stuff, i was just like .. meh tonite and it just kept going on. So while audio stuff and the things that were covered wre great, i think mixing it up more might be good so if someone is bored, they will stick around for the next segment instead of being tempted to cut it off cause " its a audio show " this week.

Just a thought.

I really liked how you addressed the backround issue. Me i dont mind the backround, but the point is you talked to us. I think thats real important. The reason TRS is so hot i think is cause its like hanging out with your buddies, not watching a TV show and when you talk to us on this show it feels the same. Forums are always treated as the red headed step child, just a side project for the show, a distant ignored part. But to take our concerns and address them, to open dialog and just say .. hey we like ramen noodles too, whatever, bring this thing to a new level. To me its like the next evolution of how we interact with TV. No longer is it passive, where you watch it and your done, its interactive where you watch it and go to the forums and talk about it, go try the DIY projects, it becomes a living breathing medium of communication at that point.

So thnx for that.

Hmmm.... other then that, great show, great chemistry, professional reviews and segments, its all good in the hood. Cant wait for next week, keep on truckin.

It was that moment that i realized how perfect she is for the show. I concur, its real important she does that when pat gets geeky.

* 5 minute ad for another Rev3 show

There's nothing wrong wit ha little cross promotion.

* Annoying ads between segments
Patrick's new baby is gonna need at least 12 diapers a day! They gotta pay for that.

* Patrick doing stupid voices
Whatever.

* Showing stills to illustrate every last word. I know what a cat looks like already, FFS!
I think you're exaggerating.

* Jessica still gives me the creeps.

Here, you're obviously nuts.

The audio is lower than all of the other R3 programs and it makes me paranoid because I keep checking all of my volume settings. I know it's not me because dnation and others are nice and loud where i can adjust lower, but if its low i can't make it louder. other than that, great show!

When I tried to download the HD quicktime version via bittorrent, all peers were stuck at something like 60%. So I downloaded it directly and started seeding for all those poor stuck folks. I would like to ask that if rev3 is going to offer torrents at all that they seed them. Given that torrents build a sense of community and save on bandwidth costs, I don't understand why this problem persists.

After watching both episodes, I like it and will continue to watch, but I still have a few gripes. I like the graphic overlays and the summation graphics; it really helps to break the information down when a host (Patrick) is zooming through the details. On the same note, the overall production quality of the show is the highest of all shows on Revision 3; it has a real profession feel to it. Patrick and Jessica seem to have a great dynamic that helps provide a consistent flow to the show. I think they balance each other well. By the way, I will be the first to say that I like Patrick's voices and actually find them entertaining. I also like Leo's impressions. Call me crazy. When it comes to ads, I think they are handled fantastically. I barely even noticed them, and they don't really break the flow of the content as in other shows. Really, the best ad placement of any podcast audio or video that I listen to or watch.

Now for the gripes. My main concern is the lack of detail given during the product reviews. Patrick only tends to give details (sometimes too much) in his niche area of expertise. In this episode, for example, I would have liked to see how to exactly setup each device, what the software functionality is, and all of the operating modes (actually running) of each device. By the end of the segment, it should be as if I spent hours on the products' websites and hours setting-up and playing with the devices myself. Another small worry I have is in the range of topics. I really hope to see topics like those of early TSS in the future. A mix of "noob (call-for-help)" and "leet (advanced TSS)" topics would be great.

Good episode. Now extended it an extra half hour longer next week with a few more segments.

It would be nice. :p But I'm thinking they'd have to hire quite a few more production staff to make it any longer at a haste weekly release schedule.

Amazing that you guys actually responded to us in the forums. This show is obviously growing up with each show, this one much better than the first. However, at the end of the review segment it made me really really wonder, why the hell would you cancel an entire show loved by many, and had good ad revenue (I'd guess), for a tiny little 5 minute segment? It just does not make sense to me. I somewhat enjoy this show, I enjoy InDigital more, and for different reasons, and guess what? If they were both still being made, I would watch Both. That means you Rev3 guys would get more ad revenue. That means more money. That in turn means more shows/better shows. Am I the only one that would watch both shows if possible?

Looks like the show's found it's niche pretty quick, same attitude as the last program with different topics. I dig it.

Though Pat's head looks ****ing tiny in that cap. Do something about it.

I loved this episode. Upgrading my jerry-rigged digital media server is something I've been looking to do for a while now so it's nice to see I'm not alone in that endeavor.

Like a lot of people here I also loved the trip you took to the Exploratorium, but I noticed a small flub by Dr. Bartel and I think whoever was in charge of fetching the graphics for that interview. When Dr. Bartel was talking about key figures in history that, as he put it, "cowtied the world into believing certain things without them ever being questioned," he mentioned "MacArthur." As you were throwing up pictures of these figures in history you threw up a picture of Douglas MacArthur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_MacArthur), but I'm sure who was really meant was Joseph McCarthy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_McCarthy), as in McCarthyism. I probably wouldn't have even noticed him replacing McCarthy with MacArthur by mistake if someone had helped him out and just thrown up a picture of McCarthy instead.

I think he was a great interview and was very engaging. I'm glad the Exploratorium has a guy like that in charge cause it's a really neat and fun place. I also love the photos and graphics you use to help illustrate everything through the interviews and really bring them to life. But maybe next interview, help the guy out a little and just replace that picture of MacArthur for McCarthy yourself. In principle anyways.

It's not like Gen. MacArthur ever had much do with science and teaching. ;)

yes, and i have a feeling most of the hard critics in here weren't around for the first episodes of the screensavers, so they are comparing a mature show to a startup. it just needs a little time.

Not sure if it's the body mics or how they are being used but whenever Patrick speaks and also turns his head the audio level falls off sharply.

This gets annoying when I've set the sound level early in the show and suddenly cannot hear what he is saying clearly.

Other than that I really enjoyed the show and look forward to more.

I dunno, this show is just.....meh. Its just not doing it for me. I like Pat & Jessica, but the topics they cover are just too boring. It seems like they blow thru the reviews and dont really go too in depth about it. I really miss InDigital more and more. The flow to that show was great, and it really educated me about the products they showed. Tekzilla might be good at some point, but right now, its not what I go out of my way to watch.

Between Indigital being gone, Infected being a shell of what it once was, and Crtl Alt Chicken not making new episodes, I dunno what to think anymore. R3G is by far the best program they got going right now.

I don't think Tekzilla actually aims to ever be InDigital.

No, you're not the only one!
I miss InDigital for its in-depth reviews (and great cast), and can't see in what way Tekzilla made InDigital superfluous.

To me Tekzilla seems to aim to be a quite different show, with just the tiniest bit of overlap.

It's not like Gen. MacArthur ever had much do with science and teaching. ;)

Ironically, he did! ...In Japan. He was steadfast in pushing Japan toward economic development centered in science and technology as he saw that as a constructive way to advance Japan as a stable westernized capitalistic society. Its quite interesting to read about. He was much smarter than your standard US History texts can give him credit. He is viewed as sort of a hero by the Japanese, and was even inducted into the Order of the Rising Sun by the Emperor after his death: quite a testament being he was an occupying general!

Love the show guys but I was shocked to hear Patrick say that the iTunes couldn't send audio to multiple Airport Express routers. This is something I've been doing with 3 of these units for about a year. The catch is that you have to update the firmware your Airport Express adapters in order for it to work. It looks like I've got 6.2 and 6.3 running at the moment without any problems. Once you update the firmware on the adapters you will have a new option in the "Remote Speakers" menu in iTunes, that will be "Multiple Speakers. Selecting it will pop up a list of all of your adapters and allow you to check the ones you want to send music to. I love Rogue Amoeba's software but in this case you don't have to pay to play.

I enjoyed both episodes except for the Martin Sargent portion, which I was finally able to see tonight. It'll make a nice diversion during the long nights at work. :D

The only problem I saw was volume control. The volume of the show kept going up and down depending on the segment.

Looking forward to more.
