(Conor, do you have the DVD's, if so have you re-watched SE3 recently)

A friend got me hooked (I columned my experiences with the first two seasons) and I've been watching season 3 offline and I really don't like the one-shot format too much (the Baltar trial arc hasn't fully begun yet) however it's still incredibly amazing

I'm counting the weeks and days til BG comes back. I'm so glad (and sad) they realize they can't pull this story to 5 or 7 seasons and will end it on hopefully a high note. They have a story and they are telling it and getting out after. Look what happened to Prison Break.

sullivan85
10-10-2007, 01:08 PM
I think it's great they have an end point in sight now. I think it'll give the writers more focus on where the story is going.

Anyone know the air date of that TV movie that's coming up?

Never mind, Amazon has BSG: Razor listed with Dec.4 release date. I can wait for that instead of watching it with commercials!

Well, this sucks.

Start of GALACTICA’s Final Season Delayed Until April!!

Fans who have been waiting since March for new episodes of “Battlestar Galactica” are going to have to wait a little longer.

The Los Angeles Times now reports that “Galactica’s” fourth and final season, long expected to begin in January, won’t commence until April.

This would finally explain why the series’ 3rd season DVD set won’t be out till April!

Still up in the air is whether or not we’ll have to wait until 2009 to see the series’ final episodes.

The Times also reveals that series mastermind Ron Moore plans to make his directorial debut on one of “Galactica’s” last 10 episodes.

Argh! Six Gun angry, Six Gun smash! ;)

Seriously though, IGN got Razor a few weeks ago for review, what the heck?

gungadin
10-26-2007, 12:30 PM
Michael Ausiello said Razor was REALLY good.

Anyone been watching the webisodes online? The ones that prequel into Razor much like the webisodes that led into third season? I saw the first three and they're pretty amazing. You can find them at SciFi.com (www.scifi.com)... It's totally the first thing you see.

So yeah... Back to the topic. That really sucks. I really was looking forward to January. But that means we have to wait a year for final season. Frakkin a. But Ron Moore directing... Anyone else have really high hopes?

I want Season 3 on DVD...

I haven't heard if it's good or bad but they are coming out with a mini written by Eric Nylund who wrote the three fantastic Halo novels. He's a bio-chemist with a writing degree which I can't think of a better education for a sci-fi writter

six-gun
11-26-2007, 12:26 AM
What did you dudes think of Cain's relationship with Gina?

Felt a bit tacked on, no?

not totally, I think being deceived had a legitimate change on Cain, taking her one step further towards her emotional state of her death, plus it also adds another dimension to Gina's murder of her

jaflanagan
11-26-2007, 01:28 AM
That was fantastic. The potential was there for it to be really not good. New character, way out of the regular series, flashback, all that. But it was good and engaging. I do wish they went back to the earlier way they did the space dogfights, but that's a small complaint.

I don't think the relationship seemed tacked on, but rather it just came up really fast, because they had to establish it a little hastily. I think that's where that feeling comes from.

I don't think Cain would have thought twice about breaking a Cylon infiltrator, no matter the personal attachment. She just seemed very cold and logical.

I gotta watch this again. Been too long since the first viewing.

i think Cain viewed Gina as a personal failure, something she doesn't accept from her crew or herself. that also happened near the mutiny and i think those two instances built up a legitimate paranoia in her character that wasn't there (she doesn't start carrying a pistol until after those two scenes)

jaflanagan
11-26-2007, 04:25 AM
The documentary style with the heavy drumbeats?

That twas sweet.

Not only was it documentary style...it was like 1940's documentary style. But with zooms. I loved that.

And yeah, you can talk about the story points. if you don't want to know what's happened in the movie that already aired on TV, you're on your own clicking on this thread.

Don't have to tell me twice...

So yeah. I totally saw Shaw dying in the end. Predictable... Although she was a SUPER awesome character it was really nice to see her arc. Loved the style of flashing to the murders of the civillians and then her admission that she wanted forgiveness... I didn't see that coming at all what with the "We live with our choices" speech from Cain.

I LOVED seeing the classic Cylons. I never bothered to watch the original BSG (I'm positive I wouldn't like it), but seeing the goofiness that was them mixed in with a menacing was really cool. And it's interesting knowing that there are now TWO groups of Cylons for the humans to deal with. Oh the stories that opens up...

And Kara's the Harbringer of the Apocalypse? What the crap? Edit: Can't wait to see what they do with it though...

Also, seeing the trailers for Season Four... SUPER awesome cool. Made me REALLY wanna see what they do in this final season... Although we need all twenty episodes... I don't want there to only be 13... Cuz that's all they have filmed. I want the full season. I support the writer's strike, but I hope it doesn't kill this season. That'd be sad. :(

It should be noted that "apocalypse" doesn't necessarily mean what it is typically used as (i.e., end of the world/civilization). It can also mean simply, "to reveal."

I really enjoyed Razor, got to see it on the big screen out here. The ending (someone having to stay behind with the bomb) was a bit cliche--I half-expected her to punch Kara and force her into the airlock. It might have been better if they'd simply left Starbuck out of the mission and let a bunch of cannon fodder die. But otherwise it was a great episode.

Sci Fi unveils 'Battlestar' prequel
19 Mar 2008 11:44am EDT - By Paul J. Gough
Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica will live on with Caprica.

At its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, the cable channel said that it has greenlighted a two-hour back-door pilot for the prequel, which had been in development for two years.

Sci Fi also has given the go-ahead to True Believer, a two-hour back-door pilot created by Rosario Dawson and David Atchinson -- who co-wrote the comic book series Occult Crimes Task Force -- about a comic book enthusiast who hires a former superhero to teach him about crime fighting. It joins The Stranded, a two-hour pilot of a Sci Fi/Virgin Comics joint venture.

The network also plans an Alice in Wonderland-based six-hour miniseries titled Alice, from RHI Entertainment. A two-hour comedy-drama pilot, Deputized, follows a man who fights crime around the galaxy after getting super powers.

Caprica, which is set 50 years before the events in the departing Battlestar, will begin production in the spring. It hails from the Battlestar masterminds Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

The presented them as their characters so #6 was done by (wait for it) #6 and her's was "There is a good chance you'll see me naked"
This was followed by Colonel Ty #5 "There is a good chance you'll see me naked"

All in all it was a pretty funny top 10.

I'm just now catching up on Season 3. Just finished the second episode last night. Wow, they're really ramming the Iraq War parallels down our throat, aren't they? I'm hoping this doesn't last too long. Both episodes have me disappointed for the first 40 minutes, only to redeem themselves in the last 20. I've really missed watching BG and am glad to be back in the game.

When should I watch Razor? Can I at any point or do I need to wait until after I finish season 3?

I'd wait till the end of season 3. There's a major reveal at the end of season 3 and it's hinted at in Razor. I think it would ruin one of the best episodes of the series.
