Build an electric car/truck. Just buy a stock/used/whatever cheapo and mod it into an electric (or hybrid I guess) auto. You got machining, big power (motors, batts), small power (damn near everything else), electronics (stereo, GPS, and various microcontrollers (more for hybrid then pure electric (yes I nest parenthesis))), design (can't really wing it), power generation (standard outlet would take too long and if going bio-diesel hybrid, making bio-diesel at home), and probably more stuff I'm forgetting. That with a MAME segment would be enough show for several months.

Of course, weekly wouldn't work so this would probably be a good segment like the MAME project.

So many views and no responses. Guess it wasn't all that awesome, lol.

I think that it's a great idea. I was was just too busy sounding off in other threads to reply to this one.

I mean you can really get complicated with just the battery charging system alone if you incorporate PFC (Power Factor Correction) to minimize charging times and to extend the life of the batteries. A project like this really could be the ultimate Systm project. I would love to be able to have my own electric car to drive to work. I have just never had the time to build one. (Full time job and being a student is a time killer  ) The only thing is that Systm would have to take a project like this very seriously for it to be worth it. If they just sort of half-ass it like the battery episode, then it's worthless.

Impress me Systm, I challenge you!

This seems a bit too complicated to cover in a TV show format very clearly. My school partakes in the ChallengeX super mileage event that involves modifying an SUV to make it super fuel efficient. There are whole classes offering college credit and such devoted to the project. Such a project is the sort of thing that will always been exponentially more work than it seems...

So an episode on it would either just barely gloss over the details of the job, or would take like 12 half hour parts and would be confusing to follow. I don't think either captures the spirit of Systm.

Yep, it's difficult but I wasn't thinking of it as an episode but more like segments. Each segment continues from where the previous one left off. It wouldn't be confusing to follow unless you miss a segment or they do stuff in between segments.

As for taking it seriously, there's that and they need more people to work on System.
