This came up on my iPod tonight, and it got me to thinking...
Has there ever been a piece of music composed for a character that is as completely demonstrative of everything that makes that character who they are, as this piece of music is for Superman? This composition, to me, sums up everything that Superman is in a way that words never can. In this marriage of character and song, perfect artistic harmony exists between the point of inspiration and the result of execution, and I can think of no other hero that has been graced with such a pitch-perfect musical theme.
(Other characters in different mediums, perhaps, have had this honor; Don Quixote de la Mancha and "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)" come to mind.)
