Morgan Webb talks about the pitfalls of launching a video blog. Free photo editing software. Installing a Graphics Card. HappyMedia, Nero 8, Blu-ray vs. HD DVD, easy e-mail backup. Plus we kill a PC.

This episode was a massive improvement over the first two. While the topics were a bit basic for my tastes, this is a show I could watch every week without feeling a sense of pain, and seems up to part with other podcast.

Great show this week. it was crazy seeing Morgan in a Rev3 show, but I'd love to see her jump 2 the Rev3 staff.
Loved the show! Think I'll hang onto my Nero 7 Ultra Edition and pass on 8.

Morgan Webb in HD FTW! Although she talked about the exact same thing on yesterdays DL.TV
Another great episode, I don't really get why so many people complain about Tekzilla, I've loved it since episode one.
And, Morgan Webb... wow, she's amazing. I think I have little crush on her :P
Keep it up rev3!

Webb in HD is a good thing.:D
But seeing her appear on DL.TV and Rev3 in the same week and acting like her real self I remember from back in her TSS days and not that scripted crap on G4 was nice to see again,I really hope this shows she is eventually leaving G4 and be awesome if she came to Rev3 with her show and more appearances on how to segments on Tekzilla.

Agreed entirely.
The audio was still a bit messed up though.

I couldn't stand her on G4. Wasn't around during the TSS days so this is a HUGE improvement. I kinda feel sorry for her now. It's that big a difference. Her vidcast was also intriguing. I don't plan on making one but this segment was really good and very useful.

well, that graphics card segment was total shit. Uninstall drivers, screw in card, install new drivers?? Next time just say " Read the manual." And I want more Morgan Webb!. Episode seemed very short. I liked the last episode better.

MORGAN WEBB!!!!!
Congratulations Tekzilla. I never really had any interest in watching your show. But you have managed to reel me in. Seeing Morgan on Revision3---Epic! This holds possiblilities for future tech tv guests. This is even better than when Laura Swisher came on Infected. No offence to you Laura, You we great also. But finally seeing Morgan acting herself was heartwarming. She plays a good role on x-play, but on this episode, when she was talking, it was almost like watching her on The Screen Savers. She was so natural. Her voice makes me melt. It is weird, she talks almost in a geeky way but she makes it sound so charming. Someone help me out if you understand what I'm talking about.
And a note to Morgan about her comment on the episode... Trust me, you don't need makeup. You're beautiful without it.
Dang.... Why did I ever have to hear that you got married.
Anyways. Thank you Tekzilla! I think I should give your show a chance from now on. Going to redownload episode 1 and 2 right now.
----- See ceo's at rev3. You want viewship on a new show, it's always a good idea to bring someone that everyone loves to your show.. (hint... I'm waiting to see Adam Sessler and Leo Laporte)

You can get "non-techies" to read the manual? Tell me how because it'll save me some time with family computer problems.
Frankly, if they read the manual to begin with they would know how simple it is. They don't so this is a good segment.

Remember the commercial on G4 where the dude was worshiping Morgan Webb and had a shrine. The when the TV showed Adam Sessler the guy went crazy and started throwing knives at an Adam Sessler death wall.
That's how I feel :)

You can get "techies" to read manuals?!?!? You should work at a software company in engineering one day. About half the forwarded questions engineers get have "RTFM" as the response going to high ranking sysadmins and IT professionals; its sad really. The fact is, most "techies" don't have to read the manual to do menial tasks like this, its pretty intuitive if you have a basic understanding of the PC hardware-software platform.
And Engineers get "RFTM" from their research and science departments, and of course, my bank has told me to RFTM when I complain about some sort of extra fee. No one reads the manual without external force: no one. You either "got the knack" at something or you don't. Reading manuals is what we call "work".

True, but I usually refer to the manual when I don't know something. The thing is that "non-techies" find tech stuff intimidating and would be afraid to read the manual even if it didn't have technobabble in it.

GREAT show this week. Like all the others, seeing Morgan Webb on the show just brought a smile to my face. I can''t believe the stuff she is doing between her site and G4. When does she sleep?! It makes me appreciate her a lot more for doing what she does. I think her days at G4 are def getting closer to the end. I don't think she really needs that job anymore.
But, I found it kinda ironic how she was talking about having good audio while Tekzilla's audio was choppy and going in and out. Kinda funny. Hopefully, their new studio will fix all that.

Yea, the audio doesn't bother me too much but it is annoying. Haven't figured out why it's like that though (I'm assuming the mics work fine).

Another good episode, if a bit short. I'm looking forward to next week.

This was kind of a weird episode. The only redeeming feature was Morgan's segment. Although Jessica kept cutting off Morgan, I really enjoyed the tips she gave. Also, I thought that the segment about the different photo editors could use more information. Instead of saying here's a bunch of editors, there should have been a short demonstration of the different features.
The pacing in this episode was leagues beyond the others. I'm very happy with the minor but solid improvements made. Best episode so far.

#1 Hell of a lot better than the past two shows, suggestion though, get people to leave gmail and/or skype voicemails or something along with the emails.
#2 The morgan segment wasn't just good because it was morgan webb, but also because it was an intriguing topic and a good interview.

I definitely enjoyed Episode 3 the most. The hosts are finally getting the hang of the routine. I think that Tekzilla will become one of my favorite shows.
Morgan Webb was a great addition. I wouldn't mind seeing her coming to the Rev3 Team.

This was kind of a weird episode.
I agree it seemed really really rushed to me and non of the segments weren't anything new it was just stuff that is general common knowledge. Loved seeing Morgan but she acted a lot different than what I remember of her on techtv/g4. It was like she had just drank a pot of coffee.

I didn't really care for Morgan on either dl.tv or here on Tekzilla. Seemed like a waste of time, tape, and bandwidth to have Morgan regurgitate pretty much the exact same thing she said the other day on dl.tv. Jessica seems like a far more knowledgeable host/person. They (Hahn, Wil, Jessica) covered the pitfalls of hard drive based camocorders on inDigital and it would have been funny if Jessica said something to Morgan about it as they were filming the segment.
Also, what is it with all the damnned commercials interspersed throughout the show. Tekzilla isn't even revision3's bread and butter (that goes to diggnation) and it kind of throws off the pacing by having TV style ads break things up in the middle of the content. I'd rather have it more like diggnation, where you mention your sponsors in the beginning and once more again in the end, instead of having to skip a commercial in the middle of the .avi/.mov file. Consistency matters.

Great show today! Thanks much for having Morgan on to talk about getting her video blog up. As someone who is considering expanding their podcast from an audio show to video this was very helpful. Looking forward to the show getting bigger though, still a little short. Though the content is great.

What was the devise below Morgan's HV20 that let you use XLR inputs into the camera?
TIA
I am really enjoying this show, I think it has became my #2 show on Rev3.
They didn't show, or talk as much as I'd like about Nero 8 but that was still cool.

Thanks so MUCH for getting Morgan on. I really have been very interested in video blogging and have been following how Morgan did it.
I appreciate her traveling out of her way to share her experiences with us. It was very informative.

I agree, it's bad enough that they kill real content time with real advertisement, but they are also killing it with filler stuff. I also get the feeling like some of the segments are rushed, like the Morgan Webb one this time felt like Jessica was trying to speed through parts of it.

I just feel the need to say that
* I * bought a PS3 so that I could use it as a Blu-Ray Player.
...Don't get me wrong, I also use it a ton for gaming (with FF13 being my tipping point over XBox 360), but you can only remain satisfied with the 3 HD local channels your cable company delivers in unlocked QAM before you want to Netflix some HD movies.

I think the point Pat was trying to make was that when talking about HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray, people include the PS3 when saying Blu-ray player sales are beating HD-DVD. Obviously this isn't correct, as some people didn't buy a PS3 for blu-ray and may never use it for Blu-ray. That said however, I've heard the inverse of that from people arguing HD-DVD. They say HD-DVD player is outselling Blu-ray, but they completely throw away the PS3 as a player. Both ways are flawed, but it's hard to quantify how many people with a PS3 will be actually using it for playing Blu-ray movies.
I think the debate should be more about movie disc sales. It's great if twice as many people have one format over the other, but it becomes completely different if that lesser out their format has users who love movies, and end up buying 3 times as many movies as the other format's users.
But really in the end, I think this "war" isn't going to end, and we'll just end up with cheap dual-format disc drives.

Hear, hear. Although distrust HDMI completely and will probably not go HD for a while since computers > all.

On every segment on g4 now is all scripted. Every single word that comes out of her mouth on g4 is scripted. I cannot stand watching g4. When she was on dltv and rev3 she was able to freely say what she wanted to say without being pressured by g4 corporation or the upper management telling them what they can say or not to say. I am sure morgan gives input and does other things but the majority of lines she says are all scripted and it is making xplay really freaking boring. Starts with the intro review, review, commercial break, review, commercial, another review and then that is that. The dltv and tekzilla segments where the best in terms of letting her say what she wants with the middle man.
