Anybody here download the UT 3 demo yet?
I'm facing problems with it and was wondering if anybody else has been facing similar problems.
I did manage to play a single game and I have to say it was quite fun.

Where can you get it? I have the Crysis MP Beta, but not UT3.

Damn. If it doesn't work in WINE. Hopefully a Linux demo will be out soon.

Love it. It looks great and it is just the beta, I am hoping the final version has more guns though the demo only has 6.
what are they requirements?

Runs smooth, but looks like shite. Seriously it looked like its running in software mode or something, it was like playing quake1. But it felt light weight, loaded fast. Seems kinda wowish in its graphics, which is ok i guess since my system is old.
But did anyone else get that things where its all blocky and crappy looking?

Not really, but even if I did, it is a BETA so not much should be expected.

Check the settings. Apparently, one of the settings makes the game look like crap but it helps run it on older computers. Forgot which setting but you can probably find it on their forums. I have to wait until the Linux demo is out to try it.

On my machine it looks like Gears of War on roids.

yea got it working. I like it, its not too overpowering, looks nice, its not all big models, feels more like the first unreal.
Btw, anyone into playing unreal 1? I wouldnt mind playing a co-op run through.

Ahh I just played a vehicle CTF match, it seems it only adds the weapon HUD if you actually have it. So yes they didnt get rid of guns!

I love this demo, running on powerful machine (SLI, dual core) and looks so sick. My can't every demo be like the one these guys put out?!?! Such a great teaser and so much fun!??

I got Unreal 3 running, seemed blocky to me, I'll fiddle with the settings and see. Any way we can play together guys? Iccanui - first unreal is the best, I'm down for some Unreal 1 MP.

<sigh> I had such high hopes. I love UT, I really do. I just don't see enough in this version to warrant the upgrade. The game play seemed pretty much the same as UT2k4.
About the only thing I liked was the tripod vehicle in deathmatch. It's the perfect size and well balanced for that kind of game play. Powerful, but kind of slow, so it doesn't give the driver a totally unfair advantage.
The graphics...meh. I know they are better than UT2k4, but it's like, "So?" It doesn't enhance the game play. In fact to me all the maps just felt 'dirty'. Like everything was covered with dirt. The result was that the maps just felt muddy and uninteresting.
I think I'll save my money and get it after it's come down to $30 or $40.

You understand what BETA means right?

Yup, it means that except for some bugs and performance tweaks, it's effectively done.
My point was that there is nothing significantly better in this demo than in UT2k4. Perhaps the full version will have some more redeeming features that were not shown in the demo.
That said, if you want to release a public demo to get people excited, you'd likely come out with your best face showing.
I'm not saying it's bad, but I don't feel compelled to drop $50-60 on this when it comes out. It's just not worth it. I can get EQUAL enjoyment from UT2k4, with it's older graphics and nearly identical game play.

Thats not what it means at all, the BETA is the game in its infancy stages of working. :/

Really? When did that happen? That used to mean ALPHA code.
Looking at the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle) we may be both off a bit.

Infancy? Not at all. This is out to get you pumped because it represents what the game will be. If you like it now, you will like the end product.
