What do you guys think? I personally find it hilarious. Its got the same feel as arrested development, but its at least 5x as vulgar, which really appeals to me :D
For those unfamiliar with it, heres a clip that represents the genius writing behind one of the characters.

I'm kind of on the fence about it.
On the one hand, some of their situations are hilarious.
Only the other hand, I absolutely dispise ever character on the show.
That was what made Arrested development good, was that there was the "straight man". The good guy who has to deal with his family of jerks and idiots.
Always Sunny on the other hand, all for of the main characters are just miserable human beings. They're just the 4 biggest scumbags I've ever seen. And I just go through the episode wanting to punch them in the face the whole time.
At yet, like I said, some of the shit that happens is still hysterical.
Its like the same thing I had with Seinfeld but greatly exaggerated. Seinfeld was a funny show, but all of the main characters were self-centered jerks, so I didn't LIKE any of them. Always Sunny takes that and amlifies the awfulness of the main characters by about 10.
But...like I said...still funny. Maybe its because only bad things ever happen to them. Unfortunatly, those bad things also screw over the people around them who aren't such awful people.

There is the waitress from the coffee shop... She's only in every 3rd or 4th episode though. And she's mostly there for the main characters to bully(that is to say, she isn't rectifying the problems they make, as much as being the main victim)
Also, Charlie and Dee tend to take respectable stances on issues at the start of the program... Its just that they are corrupted so easily.(Dee being offended that Dennis and Mac would pretend to be disabled, so to teach them a lesson, she goes to the same place, pretending to have a spinal cord injury. Or Charlie trying to fight for his right to a smoke free work environment)
Honestly though, it is a show where you don't observe it to critically. Shut your brain off and watch it scene by scene. Don't try to make any moral lessons out of the situations they run into.

One of my favorite shows. I love that all the characters are assholes, it makes it easier for you to laugh when they get their comeuppance at the end of each episode, at which point in time they still haven't learned anything. :p
I just made "Day Man" my ringtone, too.

This show is simply genius. I've been watching since it first aired on FX two years ago and they've only gotten better. I'm so glad that it seems to be finally catching the steam and acknowledgment it so deserves.
The whole pre-op plot line with Mac and that "girl" is just comedy gold and they're bringing it back for this week's episode.

love it just started watching this season. I like the stupid arguments they get into. Like arguing whether or not the builing they were in had a heli-pad or secret underground tunnels.

Totally agree with you guys. This show is one of the top comedic shows out there these days. If you pick up the DVDs the commentary makes it all the better. Hilarious in so many ways.

This weeks ep. is actually the one they put up on myspace prior to the season premier... so you should be able to find it ( ;) ) if you are interested in watching it before wed.
Just like the other ep. this season, its hilarious! Charlie thinks hes a lawyer in it.

Yeah, I was able to catch one of the four parts that they put up on myspace but couldn't find the others for the life of me :p Oh well, I'm excited to watch it in it's entirety this Thursday.

I am in full support of "It's Always Sunny".
Hell, I'm from Philly! But I have to admit that Season 3 has lacked a little bit. Although the upcoming "Mac is a serial killer" episode is one of the shows' best.

Awesome show, it had me from the moment Charlie shouted "DOMINO BABY!" from the pilot to "Day Man, Fighter of the Night Man". Genius show!
The situations that they get themselves in has not been matched by any other show that I have ever seen.
plus the show sponsored Diggnation so we at least owe it our support.

Best comedy on television, hands down.
In regards to the characters, I think the show comes across in a way very similar to South Park. Behind every joke and situation, there usually is an underlying message. And most times, that message is to just relax and realize most things that we freak out about aren't that big of a deal.
You're a master of karate and friendship for everyone.

I agree it is clever for something that represents such high levels of stupidity

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I didn't want to make a new one. I finally listened to some of the good things I heard about the show and picked up seasons 1 & 2 at Bestbuy for a nice $20 together and watched the first episode just a few minutes ago, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation Jeff (?) on the last show, it got the show fresh in my mind.

Huge AD fan wouldn't really call the show similar since AD's comedy was a bit more complex but its damn funny. So glad Jeff mentioned it in his top 5

i love its always sunny...but cant seem to get into arrested development.
i recently downloaded all 3 seasons...and after a couple episodes of the 1st season i just dont see what everyone loves about it. does it get better after the first few? or do i just suck at life....probably that.

I love it. I had seen bits and pieces here and there, until the other day when they ran a marathon of the whole first season or two. It's really funny, but at times obnoxiously loud, and, well, obnoxious.
The episodes where they try out for the football team (not an NFL fan, forgive me for forgetting the name) and where Frank and Charlie decide to be homeless are definitely my favorites.

I think the fight club episode is one of the funniest episodes of any show I've seen in a long, long time...

Keep watching, man. It gets a lot better!
It's funny, I'm a huge Arrested Development fan. After it was cancelled, I tried watching It's Always Sunny... and it came off to me like a C-Grade Arrested Development. I stopped watching after two episodes. Then my buddy told me I had to give it a second chance, so I picked up the DVD's, watched 'em all the way through, and now I can't get enough! I would say that they're in the same family, but I'd imagine AD as the funny older/wittier sibling, while IASIP is the funny younger/vulgar sibling. Similar senses of humor, but executed differently.
Hope you enjoy the rest of AD.
