Yesterday around noon I caught the smallest glimpse of the smallest banner on myspace advertising a free screening of Darjeeling Limited followed by a Q&A with Wes Anderson in the most unlikely place, my hometown, Cleveland Ohio. The movie was at 4pm so my friends and I hightailed it downtown. We called the theater to confirm but they informed us we had to register online for tickets. After a quick goog-411 call for directions we hit up Cleveland Public Library (which I now know is a BEAUTIFUL building) and sent our requests via electronic mail. They sent back a message informing me that registration was closed. DENIED! We picked up the pieces of our broken hearts, logged out of our email clients and shuffled outside like sad pandas. Its a good thing that 'no' isn't part of our collective vocabulary because we decided to go anyway and make it work. It turns out that the email only reserved ~20% of the 130 seat theater and we got in line about 10 people from the ticket counter!! Rad! The line was packed with tons of die hard fans jumping and smiling, all of whom found out about the event within the previous 24 hours. After 2 hours of candy and beer we were seated and the lights were fading. We got to experience Hotel Chevalier And Darjeeling Limited in a theater filled with people who appreciate what was being offered. (Its off putting being at a regular showing of these movies with a few scattered guys that obviously aren't paying attention and laughing at unexpected times)

Anyway, after the movie Wes Anderson, Jason Schwartzman & Waris Ahluwalia came out to answer 20-30 minutes of questions. They were all awesome and amazing and funny and really appreciative of all of the fans. Jason went into why he is shoeless the whole movie and Wes told a story about drinking opium tea with a village while traveling India. There was later a question about the drug use in his movies that he passed on answering. I may be a bit biased having seen the glowing review Jeff gave on the show, and already expecting to love the film, but it was wonderful. Really a beautiful movie that makes me want to see India.

So thats my story of a pretty badass saturday. BTW, after the QA, my friends admitted to having man-crushes on Jason Schwartzman, citing that he could be the most awsome male currently in existance. Let me know what you think, is there a chance any of you were also there?

did you read it from the friends bulletin? Cause I randomly decided to post that... I wasn't sure if it would work for anyone but hoped it might. I hope it did for you!
