The Revision3 team is settling in... maybe a bit too much. Sarah gives us an updated tour of the office and studio build-out, and hilarity ensues! Ok, hilarity does not actually ensue, just several miniscule chuckles.

I thought you'd be working on making a live show possible.

Segment idea: What are the office hours like at rev3.
Do you guys keep the norm 8-5 or are most of your evening type people? Who works on the weekend? Do you guys even keep a schedule?
And is the office open to visitors at the moment?

Poor Chuck.

Now you have to devote a whole episode of the gazette to a day in the life of Chuck.

Also, I'm pretty certain at the last place I worked, having vodka on my desk would be a great way to be escorted off the campus by security by lunchtime.

Well Sarah, you may still not realize why the last episode was so bad.... But that's in the past, at least you listened, good ep this week.

Segment Idea:
-Homerowed 3.
-Normal Work Day (as coolspot suggested)

R3G in General:
-More REAL Martin Sargeant. (Real meaning not mannequin and not acting
-Less Sarah Lane. Martin Sargeant needs at least 3 shows.
-Martin Sargeant slapping people.
-Jumping off Tall Things with Martin Sargeant
-Alex Chiu. 'nuff said

I think all of these ideas should be implemented immediately.

While I would totally LOVE to see another homerowed, don't you think it's a bit hypocritical to b1tch about the fruit club sketch, and then suggest another one? I would rather see an entire 10 minutes of Sarah bending over than have to watch that fruit club episode again.

Thanks guys for listening to the comments made on the last Gazette episode. I don't want to be one to complain as I did last week and not provide any feedback so here are some of the things I'd like see in future Gazette episodes.

- How bout the behind the scenes to some of the podcasts like diggnation, techzilla etc... sorta like the behind the scenes stuff that ask.com does but with more interaction. It would be nice to see how the gang prepares for a podcast.

- I would like to know what the new studio setup is supposed to look like, can we get a peek into what the future sets are going to look like.

- Are there any new shows in the works?

- Or how bout a gazette episode when revision3 does one of their parties or launch events. It would be cool to see interviews of any tech celebs that may be attending...

Ok so that's all I can muster up for the moment, how bout the rest of you, what would you like to see in future Gazette episodes.

travislopes
10-18-2007, 01:59 AM
It would be funny if they did some episodes like that one show from MTV, Diary where they follow around celebs for a few weeks and have "diary" sessions in between the clips of their life.

They should make a return of the homerowd if they are allowed. G4 would probably sue Rev3 if that happened somehow.

yes another homerowed would be awesome.

are there any revision3 mascots or pets? you guys need a cat or hamster in your offices.

Hey, anything interesting going on outside the studio/office/breakroom/bathroom?

chuckles

I'll make an excellent show if and only if you're in need of a sleep aid.

I vote for making Peter the company mascot. :) If you're wondering who Peter is... he is... the... dummy that was featured in this episode.

This episode gave me digital blue balls when I saw the server room. And then I was so let down when there was only a few slow shots of the XServes and switches with no real meat behind it. Seriously, if you really want to make the Gazette more legit in the future and not waste our time downloading this, here are two suggestions that may help you out.

* Bring in Revision3's systems admin, go back into that server room and explain everything that is in there. Now that would be HOT! Brand of switches you're using, what's exactly in those XServes, how many Terabytes of storage available, server software and setup, and so on... You could easily do 15 mins of real footage showing the production workflow and how Revision3 harnesses all that power on a daily basis. I want my server porn!

* Show the entire post production process for one of your shows (I vote for diggnation or TekZilla). I want to see what happens the moment the tape leaves the HD Cam to what machines you use to import footage, how you put together motion graphics, editing, and how you guys compress down from HD to XViD. People want gory details, and I thought that's what we were going to get when the Gazette came out, not some fruity fruit club.

That's 2 shows worth of ideas you can use, so just do it and I'm certain many more of us would be much happier with what's been coming out of the Gazette.

Homerowed Rev3 style! That would be so freakin funny.

Anyways, great episode. No actual Marin though. :(

It was cool to see the Techzilla set. Make sure to keep us up to date with the construction of the new studio.

I am a 21 year old college student and I have no real skills per say, except that I love computers and tech. But I would drop out, get in my car, and drive to San. Fransico (from Missouri) if it meant getting a chance to work for Rev3. I would so work for min wage (or less) bringing coffee to the staff or whatever task needed to be done, all wail living in my car, all so I could meet the people behind my favorite podcasts in the world!!!!! I'M THAT DEVOTED!

i totally agree.. i would like to see a normal work day of somebody at revision3.
more martin sargent or kevin rose would be really cool.

or "A Day at the DIGG.com offices" just making a quick trip to their offices since those two companies a sort of related.

blofeld07

Martin was a totally different guy when he was first on TSS. I guess a little independence goes a long way with unscrewed and all.

I was watching this and thought of about a Tekzilla skit when the new studio is finished. Patrick and the crew start the show on the temporary set and suddenly decide to take it over to the new one. Leo Laporte is already there on the set eatting his lunch. The crew has to then kick him out onto the street. That would be a good nod to all the tech tv references that get spread.

No it doesnt, Martin Sargeant is an idiot, if you want to see more of him watch his podcasts.

Back on topic, much better than last week, i dont mind jokey but the last episode was a little too G4TV for me.

Loving the episode though that fact that you get to keep some liquor at your desk is kinda cool.

God knows if i got to drink at work id be a better work :-P. Though if i actually drank i dobut id swig some absolute vodka.

More Sarah Lane = a good thing.

Ah! this was much more interesting than your vegetable club clan meeting. Man,, i bet you have hour long discussions about whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable. Don't let Martin convince you that it is a fruit. Although he should know....ha. Which really brings the question of whether people are fruits. Since they come from seeds and all, i would think it would be interesting to discuss.

The behind the scenes is great. Just keep it new and interesting. But please for the love of mankind and the internets sake, cut down on the martins. I know he is like the ronald mcdonald of the house but if i had a nickel for everytime i hear his name, i would have like six bucks.

I loved this weeks episode. The fact she mentioned how we all hated the last episode means a lot to me. She is listening to us! Its nice to feel appreciated and respected enough like that. Go Sarah!

Show ideas:

1) If Homerowed is not allowed due to G4 somehow owning the rights to that named, can I suggest: QWERTY'D!

2) I'd like to see what kind of stuff is on people's laptops or PC's in the office. I'd laugh if someone had porn on there (MARTIN!).

3) How about using the studio cam to make one of those timelapse videos of an entire day at rev3 minute by minute. 24 hours in like a 3 minute video. That would be neat.

4) I'd like to have one question, and go around asking the question to everyone there to see what variety of answers they get. Nakednews.com (its not porn) did this a lot for their weekend shows. Its a fun idea.

5) Blooper and more bloopers!

Great show, this is what I expected the Gazette to be more like.

The two biggest things that I would love to see are a time lapse of a show like Tekzilla, showing around whats going on around the set at the time of recording, etc.

and like the poster above me said, bloopers! :)

Show Suggestion:

How about a new weekly segment where Patrick (or martin) randomly throws an object at Kevin when he least expects it. For example, Patrick could throw a beanbag or some other random item that won’t injure/hurt Kevin as he:
- gets to work in the morning;
- is filming Diggnation;
- is in a meeting;
- is plotting to take over the world;
- etc…

The object could be suggested by us, the viewers.

would be cool to see static images of the server room rather then a 10 sec snippet of it ;)

some of us think rooms like this are pretty schweet.

will ya? for the sake of the ones who trully understand. :p

I'd like to see more of the edit bay?

Rather than quote Heronstalkers' entire post, I'll just say I completely aggree. Whilst a quick flash of the server room was a start, I'd like to see much more indepth. And slow lingering shots of hardware - it's geek pr0n and slow is good. Whilst some of us (not me I'm afraid) might be the MTV generation, it doesn't mean our media consumption can only consist of shaky camera work and jump cuts!

Hey head honchos of Rev3,

I'm a long time viewer of all Rev3 shows but finally put a crowbar in my wallet to subscribe to you guys... I have already seen the Rev3 Gazette thru my brothers account and I love it. The thing that is bugging me right now is that around 3 hours ago I tried to watch this episode of R3G in high def, but was unable to. I tried it again just recently and still was not able to view in high def. Yes, yes, I know watch it in standard and that is what I did. But having a high def screen on my laptop it's nice to watch these videos in high def. Just letting you know that the video wouldn't work for me, may have worked for others but would not load for me. I dont have terribly slow internet, I have DSL 1.5 up and 1.5 down and it is consistent. I just don't understand why R3G wouldn't load in high def...
