Is there a site with a comprehensive listing of local D&D or other RPG games looking for new players? I know I can go to the local gaming store to get info but it's 23:51 here so I figure hey why not post and see if there's anything online! :D
If anyone in Chicago sees a dude with a TRS hoodie feel free to stop him and say hi. He just might be me! If not then you made another new friend...or creeped somebody out. Either way it's a bright spot in YOUR day.

Never actually played D&D but I would assume Google would have that info. I doubt there's a national site showing all local games but you might try being specific.

And of course there's always social networks...

Thanks wideawakewesley (http://revision3.com/forum/member.php?u=52886)! Fear The Boot (http://feartheboot.libsyn.com/) looks really cool and Twenty Sided (http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/) looks very interesting as well. My Google was weak last night. I started a bunch of meds to keep the pain from my failed back surgery at bay and I was kinda loopy. :p Some might enjoy the loopy but I do not!

If it's straight D&D, Wizards' forums actually list local games too. You can always check your local game shop for other games going on if you're fortunate enough to have a local game shop.

Also, when it comes around. You will be able to play table top D&D online!
Here's (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/?p=434) the story about it.

I think I saw the online D&D on TRS and it looks kinda cool. For right now I want to give a RL game a whirl. It'll get me out of the house since my school kicked me out of most of my classes. It's one of the reasons I want to get into D&D or whatever else there is. It'll keep me social! :p

I think you're thinking of DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online). Thats not what I linked to. Check out the artical, and watch the video. Its pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure what you linked to is what I'm thinking of. It combines RL gameplay with an online component for the people that can't physically be there as far as I understand. Like a massively extended and beefed up chat system.

You know, there are plenty of groups that do D&D sessions over IRC, get a Rollerbot to do the rolling and battle mechanics in one channel, a proper in character chat channel for playing, and an OOC channel for whatever. It's not tabletop D&D, but at least you can play it with strangers across the globe without much difficulty.

As far as finding games in your area, check with your LFGS (Local Friendly Game Store) they usually have lists of games running locally that are looking for players. As well there are many online venues for many RPGs out there. But if you want D&D specifically save your pennies because summer 2008 4th Edition hits the shelvesand with it comes the Online tabletop so that people can play together despite how far apart they are.
Of course on a personal note I don't really like the idea of such. For my friends and myself we always enjoy the comradery of getting together more than the game. The game just gives us a reason to to do.

I've never heard of this, but now that you mention it it makes perfect sense. I think I want to investigate this further.
Is there any interest in the group for starting something like this up??

Sure, that would be cool.
