Since Jonathan and I share a love of the greatness that is cock rock I decided to create this thread. Here we can post about our favorite kickin and screamin cock rock bands and introduce some of the unknown greats.

I'll kick this mother off with a little band named Arcade!

What happens when you combine Ratt's razor throat singer Stephen Pearcy with Cinderella drummer Fred Coury? F to the uckin EPIC! Their self titled debut is 100% ball breaking, sawdust chugging man-ness. Well there is one or two ballads...but you can skip those baby tracks! If you can find this album buy it! Or at least download it, legally of course.

After seeing that Bay-City Roller's jacket, I thought, Brian Epstien has a lot to answer for...

Does Tenacious D count? How about The Darkness? Scissor Sisters? something progressively gayer?

No. They are almost tribute bands. Even though they are really good bands.

Does anyone remember Hearing Aid? "We're Stars"? The cock rock version of We Are The World... it was... beautiful.

Thanks to you Jon, I've just ordered the Transformers soundtrack from Amazon, as well as the 20th Anniversery DVD of the movie, with in-depth features and a look at the new movie.

The only one I remember was the band aid style "With a Little Help From my Friends" Twisted Sister and a bunch of others were in there.

here's another great cover for you:

I may not have lived through the prime era of cock rock, but "We're Stars" was the most psuedo-inspiring song I've ever heard. In the meantime check out this mad hit from the Scatman:

At the time this came out I thought it was the coolest thing ever seeing all my favorite metal dudes together. Now though... :o

I forgot though, that members of Spinal Tap was in that as well. Too funny.

Danko Jones is my all time favourite live act on the planet... that guy is a little steam engine of raw unadulterated anger... and yet off stage he's the nicests calmest, smartest guy you ever want to meet. Anyway, I wouldn't call them cock rock... and besides.. did they get back together

In my humble opinion, they are, but just...different. They're not as sleazy as Buckcherry, though both bands are awesome. Did they ever break up? They were touring not too long ago, I thought.

then they got back together which is amazing news... or at least replaced the guy who'd left. They're local to me, and I have a friend who's a session musician and had played with the drummer. I went from watching them in a room of 10 other guys, to watching them upstairs at the Packed Elmo Combo. Couldn't move, and loved every minute of it. I've got 3 CDs and they don't live up to the live show. The sounds just doesn't translate in my estimation. Still they're amazing. I love the fact that you know them though even if we don't agree on their classification.
