Sarah... a third gen iPod, I am disappointed!
Don't you find it clunky?

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one who's still using one. :)
However my master plan is to use the eventual total battery failure as an excuse to get a new one, (it currently holds a 3-4 hour charge).
P.S. stebe, it's not "clunky", its "retro". :)

This a roughly the same amount of battery life I get from my new-Gen Nano playing video with the brightness turned all the way up.

I'm still using mine also, and sometimes it's painful compared to my iPhone. It's pretty much limited for use in the car right now. I couldn't part with it even if I wanted too, it's been so great for so long. Plus, it cost $400 at the time so I want it to last as long as possible.

My walkman, (which had auto reverse by the way, nothing but the best for me), and my Aerosmith and Black Crows tapes got me through those long high school bus rides.

Yes I remember those days when all I had was tapes for my walk man. Yes I did have them when I was in high school as well. God those where the days.

Hard to believe people actually walked around with those things, but I remember it.

:)I lived it. It was a different time ... I also had a 1st gen sony Walkman (WM-3 - no radio, but it had auto reverse, and I got an extended battery pack for it ... those 3x D cell batteries gave you the boost you needed for long car trips :) ).

I'm afraid not, but never fear; your BetaMax/Laser Disk collection ensures that your the coolest person on the message board! :)

If all you use your iPod for is listening to new podcasts every day, any gen iPod will work fine. In a way, you have to appreciate someone realizing that what they have is good enough to meet their needs.

Up until a month ago, I still used my first-gen ipod. The battery died. I always thought the wheel would go first, it's been making a nasty grinding sound for a year or two. My ipod matches my version6.0.5 of iTunes.

I saw a pale white guy recently dressed like Vanilla Ice, strutting excessively with one these about a month ago...the guy took himself way too seriously.

Did he carry it by the handle, or did he have it balanced on his shoulder in classic 70's style? :)

I would still be using my 3rd gen but it started skipping songs randomly and then died.
