i think the arguments lie mostly in the games.
Xbox 360- Halo 3
Nintendo Wii- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
PS3- ... not sure...
anyway, the hard thing to decide is whether you want a side scroller fighting game that has already proven to be a great game that got even better in the sequel, or do you want the 1st person shooter that is arguably one of the best games ever made. As far as the PS3 goes please list some good games to look forward to cause i cant think of any.

Nintendo have stated that they want to be "the second console" in someones home, and are ensuring that by pricing.
So, they really want the Wii to be bought by someone that already has a Xbox/XB360 or PS2/PS3 ... so why argue? Have your cake and eat it too - its what Nintendo want.

well if people that get a PS3 and 360 also get the Wii, then some will only get the Wii...it will be #1 without a doubt....sales wise
I have my pre-order in. I agree with the VR aspect. It really puts you in the game from the look of it. Games have been of less and less interest to me since the NES. The last game I really got into was Vice City and I couldn't tell you what it was before that. I still love Mario 3
I think I'm the kind of person they are looking for with the Wii, I hope it brings me back to gaming, I think it will

The Xbox 360 made the best move by coming out first, everyone was dying for a new console

I've got a 360 and I'll be buying a Wii, I don't see much need for a PS3 though.

I have a 360. I wasn't going to buy one until Halo 3 came out, but my apartment got burglarized and insurance covered the 360. I have to say it is a pretty kick ass console. I am not a huge gamer anymore (I definately used to be). I pretty much only play Halo 2 on my 360. I occasionally play some BF2, but only with buddies of mine who are big gamers.
That being said, I think I will pick up a Wii. It is cheap enough where it won't completely break the bank, and I think it could be pretty kick ass.

Too long....Sometime right around February I started posting alot but I have been lurking ever since the first Diggnation. But yeah, am I crazy or did you edit your post because when I first looked at it I could have sworn you never mention the wii?
Anyway...I have a 360 and am definately getting a wii with zelda and that fishing game. Pretty exciting if you ask me.

Nintendo Wii- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
How do you not include Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes
That game alone would cause me to buy a Wii. And I don't have an xbox 360, but wouldn't mind one, and am not planing on getting a PS3

I like the 360. Can't wait til I can cluster them.
My main argument for the Wii, mind you I considered myself a sony 'fanboi,' is that graphics can get better and better, but in the end, you're still going to press X to go.
I think graphics can only go so far, but gameplay is where the real innovation is at.
So, yes, I'm getting the wii.
However, I'm also tempted to get a 360 because I've heard good things about xbox live, and, of course, Halo.
Also, just a quick question I've been thinking about. Several of my friends here at school have 360's, and I know you can have your own 'LAN' with them but that involves having ethernet cables physically connecting them. What I was wondering was if we all hooked up to the internet connection in our dorms, is it possible we could have a Halo party from separate parts of campus using our internet connection? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can create a closed group on Xbox live and create a custom game variant from there.

exactly. I was trying to explain that to someone and they weren't getting it. We are to a point where a person looks reasonably close to a person. All they are doing now is adding little details. Then once you hit photorealism......where do you go? At that point graphics will hit a wall and they will need to move beyond the 2D space or move beyond the traditional controller model. Nintendo is taking the right step

Oh, and in terms of the best console, I've gotta go with the PS3. The graphics are second to none, free online play, a controller that can tilt almost exactly like the Wii, and a slew of launch titles that are going to be AWESOME!
yea the playstation has always had the best titles.

a controller that can tilt almost exactly like the Wii,
What are you talking about?..it's nothing like Wii's contoller...first of all it just tilts in 6 directions..Wii's in many more plus Wii sense how far and how close you are to the screen and it pretty much a 3D mouse for other things and for FPS uses the sensor bar.
PS3 controller is nothing more than a worse version of the 1999 3rd party pelican six degrees of motion controller for PSone and the pelican even had Rumble.

free online play
Woah, hold up. The only reason Playstation3 has free online play is because they aren't providing servers for you to play games online. Xbox Live Gold costs $50/yr because Microsoft is hosting the servers instead of the individual companies.
That's a much better system, because now small studios can include online mode in their games without worrying about hosting costs. There is nothing to stop studios from either not including online/charging for it on PS3.
All the features Sony provides for free (demos, chat, messaging, videos); Microsoft also provides for free with Xbox Live Silver.

Well In my opinion, the PS3 will be the best, but really and truly, I think it all boils down to what games you want to play.
Forgive me for saying this (not intended to cause flaring) but I really don't see the big thing about Halo. It's a good game but I can only stand it for so long. If you do, however, find that that comment makes me deserving of a kick to the balls then you should get an X360.
Online play, not really sure I can enjoy that benefit while in the caribbean (even though I have DSL   ). So online features are not going to attract me. What is going to attract me though, is which console GTA is better on. :D
Long story short - If you're going to spend $X on a console, it shouldn't metter if it's the best console, but if it's the best console for you.

Forgive me for asking this... But how do you know GTA 4 will be better on PS3? It will be released simultaneously for all platforms.
For me, it's all about the Wii + XB360 combo... or Wii60.

On reviewing my post, I realised that yeah, it did sound like I said that GTA4 will be bettor on the PS3 but that's not what I meant. I'm buying the PS3 only because most of my favorite franchises are on the Sony platform.

Yeah, really, it does all boil down to the games. The 360 has more of an adult presence, the Wii has more of a fun/kiddy kind of presence (Not ALWAYS so don't go crazy on me for that, the Wii will also have adult games, just not as many.) And the PS3 is kind of a compilation of both having almost every kind of game imaginable. That's why I'm gonna go for the PS3, the games just look WAY more appealing to me. Although it's funny, I'm probably not gonna get one for a looooooooooooooooooooong time because of the obvious production issues and price point.

Wow, i thought I was the only one who shared the same idea about the buying of the PS3.
1. it's far too expensive at release
2. Because of where I live, I can send my PS2 to get exchanged in the event or a recalll but it's no guarantee that i'm getting it back.
I dunno about y'all but i'm waiting till some time late next year or at least until version 7, if so long. (Version 7 seems to get all the errors fixed.)
